Hey all!

I am just starting out and could use a little advice with my throwing.  I am setting up a schedule for practice and not sure the best way to go about it.

I currently have stones for throwing and I will be making my caber here within the month.  I am looking at getting a Kettle bell for throwing and swinging as well until I can afford the proper weights for throwing.

What I am curious about is whether I should train all of it on the same day OR split it up so stones are one day, caber one day and weights one day Or do a light weights one day heavy weights another and caber another?

I have a lot of technique to work on during these days and I am looking into and watching videos on form and such as well.

Any and all assistance is appreciated!

If you're planning on competing this season, you will want to simulate the conditions at a games: practice all events on one day (to the maximum extent possible) with 5-8 throws on each one. At a games, you'll only do 3 throws in competition of each implement for distance; for height, you may end up doing more than 3, depending on how many misses you make in clearing at any particular bar height.

If you aren't planning on competing this season, you can break it up however can fit your schedule. I personally subscribe to the "frequent practice while fresh" idea, so I do heavy/light (each twice a week if all works out, weather, etc), with 6-10 throws on each. Caber can fit in wherever you can: technically it should probably be "heavy", but I find that working it on a "light" day becomes more likely to actually happen. You could, however, give it a day of its own. Also, I do my regular weight training on non-practice days (2-3 days per week).

JMHO.
