I got the throws video.  The resolution isn't greatbut, thats because it was transfered to DVD from a VHS type format.  Other than that I found it to be excelent at showing the proper technique.

The DVD's are the way to go... I believe there are now about 6 video's - each one is invaluable.  If they are still releasing the original event training, they're less video quality than the rest, but the content makes them a great tool.  Similarly, the Portland DVD's are good for comparison to different body types during the throws - the 2004 Portland even had some 'bonus features' that are truly incredible - an overlay of Dave Barron on Vierra during the 56 wfd - or both Barron's in the throw with near-identical technique (even the follow-thru... go figure).  I just got the weight training a few weeks ago, which shows great form on cleans, snatches, and some sport specific lifting.  If you need any other proof - just look at the guys making the videos - Vierra, a 3x World Champ and 12x (or near) US Champ in the Heavy Events - and Kurt Pauli, who is the ONLY person I have ever heard of posting a WIN in EVERY weight class of olympic lifting during his lifting career (that's a 'from the ground up' success story that hasn't turned into a book...  yet).  Here's the video's that I've seen all, or portions of, from VP:

The Heavy Events - Volume 1 (1999/2000?)

The Heavy Events - Volume 2 (2000/2001?)

Portland 2003 - All American Championships

Worlds 2003 - Antigonish, CAN

Portland 2004 - All American Championships

Weight Training for the Heavy Events - released winter 2004/05

The last few years have shown better and better video resolution with new camera technologies and do-it-yourself programs.  My personal thought is that the video's provide some great tools for your toolbox, and when you look at the long-term cost, you'll spend less on the videos that you will on gloves, boots or tape.

I bought a training video from UHATV.com a couple of years ago and thought it was pretty good too...

I have two DVD's from VP and they rock!

I'll put it this way regarding Ryan and Kurt's tapes: If another probe is sent into space with a bunch of stuff about earthlings on it, these tapes should be included.

I just got my copy of the weight training DVD. I think it's an excellent tool for someone to learn the proper mechanics of the explosive lifts. There are also excercises for core strength training that are more "sport specific" for throwing. I think explosive power and core strength training are overlooked by people new to the sport and this DVD would be an excellent starting point for guys without a track/field background.

Didn't know VP has put out DVDs. Would definitely order them if they are available.   I  bought videos I and II a couple of years ago.  The tapes are nothing short of great.  Full of  detailed instrucitons on what to do for each throw.

Here in  Japan there are no heavy events coaches around to show us how to throw and tell us what we're doing wrong.  So a couple of us watched and analyzed the VP tapes. went out to throw; then came back and did it again a few weeks later.

Just bought "Heavy Events" Vol. 1 and 2 and the "Weight Training for Heavy Events".  Took forever to finally track them down but I can tell they were worth the wait.  (Am REALLY surprised no one else had thought of doing this sooner!  Thanks, Kurt and crew.)

Bought em, watched em, and went out and threw a solid 1 ft. PR (13)in the WOB. Now I Hit 12 like a warmup and 13 damn near every time. 14 is right around the corner. Still can't get the LWFD to cooperate though. Good Stuff.
