Mike, you're just getting started.Patience is key.Chad suggested to me to attack one or two events at a time.Meaning to practice all that you can,but spend extra time on your weakest.I'm just soaking up as much information as I can,and trying to carry it over into my training.I still am not comfortable with the double spin.Angry

 Mike,

First, welcome to Michigan.  A great bunch of throwers here, they are spread out though.  They have helped me since day one.  South Lyon, that is just east of Hell (Michigan).  I am about 2 hours west, north of Battle Creek about 30 minutes.  I think there are a few throwers over in your area.  Saline and Detroit Games are large from my understanding.  My numbers aren't up to that caliber to compete there.  My advice, wait for responses on this thread and visit the two games mentioned above to make contacts.  After school lets out for the summer, I will have more time, and you are welcome to make the drive over to practice.  I have the basic implements and may not be much help, but I'll pass on what I was taught.

Good Luck, Dave Carl    Nashville, MI.

Southern Michigan is full of midgets like Carl. The north is where it
is at. The men are men, the women are just as manly and the farm
animals are scared.
I am planning on having a practice/cook out at my place outside of
Charlevoix sometime this summer....perhaps June (after the fort wayne
games and before the Beaver Island games).

I plan to be at least better looking than McBain on the field and retain my title of lightest athlete competing.

Carl —
You are in luck. I have been sick the last week an unable to get out and
do some real practicing. Loosing some weight too (damn intestines). You
may actually get to face off against a lighter and weaker McBain, thus
improving your chances (ever so slightly) to maybe throw as far as me.
Of course, I doubt this will happen.

Here's the one situation where "lose" and "loose" work interchangeably in the same sentence.

  Stinky McBain,

I plan to get serious and start throwing next week.  This country livin' as you know is a lot of work.  Wood cutting, wood cutting, and did I mention wood cutting takes a great deal of my time.  The amount of $ we save heating is worth it and the exercise must be of some value.

Your illness, not speaking of the mental, but the physical is not fun.  My cousin has the same deal and she has tried everything.  I do not believe she has found anything that works long term.

**Get better and be ready for Alma.**

Tell her to try endocort...wonderful drug. Not many side effects.

Doc is wanting to put me on a nasty little drug now called Imuran. Tons of side effects. Takes away parts of my immune system and increases my chances for cancer. I am fighting him on this suggestion.

  McStinky,

Good Luck on the drugs.  It is kind of like all those drugs ads on television.  It helps one illness, but makes your skin fall off, glow in the dark, and grow a second head.  Like that girl on the Valtrex comercial.  It's not about a cure, just suppression.  She is running around with that guy on some tropical island, livin' large, having a great time.  If that's what happens when you get g. herpes, it makes you wonder if we shouldn't all get it.

But being serious for a second, keep me up to date.

  -Dave
