A little background on me.

I began training in the gym like most kids in the 80's did because they saw ARNOLD and wanted to be like him.

After realizing this wasn't going to happen because....well...I'm a natural fatty I took up powerlifting  I did that for a few years and competed locally (state level).

Gave up the weights altogether and pursued Judo for a couple of years loved that it just won't fit into my schedule anymore.

So I decided to get back at the weights about a year ago and have been doing that off and on (more off than on)..

Until recently, that's when I went to a cultural festival at a local college and they had amongst other things a Highland games demonstration.

So I went and check it out.  Being around the strength sports for sometime I had heard about the Highland games but never really thought about doing them.

I spoke to a couple of the gentlemen that were doing the demonstrations and they were very forthcoming with upcoming events and what each event was.  They even game me a chance to throw the Open and Braemer stone.

I was hooked immediately.  I went home and began googling Highland games and watching videos on Youtube.

A few weeks later I bought a 34.5 lb stone and a 22 pound stone.  I have yet to figure out a way to get a small tree in my backyard.

I hope to learn alot here and meet some new friends

ROB

Find J. Irvin, John Holt, and Wayne Kearns...really great throwers in your area.  Except for Irvin.

Will be seeing you next season I am sure!

Go to the Thistle...a GREAT place to start.  Great memories, environment, throwers, and coaching.

I had a really great experience there (minus the sheep on the cliff thing the Okies wanted as the 10th event....I lost) and recommend it to anyone!
