...not as easy to do as it is to say.

Ok, so I am working trying to get used to the boots, to figure out how to sit back into my swings and use the boots.  Decided...(after being told a million times here)...to just practice winds.  That numbers were the key.

Secondary to that I just want to work on the muscles and release move.  So I have decided to do these winds with the 22lb hammer.

First time I got to around 40 before I was wiped out and they were not all nice and pretty.

Today I got to just over 60 before I was tired enough that form was a problem.

Learned so far that my major problem with the boots is standing too tall.  The catch was pulling me way off balance and over onto my face.  So I have to work on really sitting that catch with the head up to stay back on my heels.  Not perfected yet but at least I think I can admit to the problem...and that is first step...NO?

Haha. Yup, fell forwards all the time when I first got blades (last year :) )

Now I try and fall backwards if anything. Remembering to keep knees well bent and swivel the hips a lot more is a key for me.

Not using Blades yet, but did 5x10 each way with both 16 & 20# hammers last night.  Took breaks to throw sheaf after each set of 40 winds.

Could you clarify, are you doing multiple sets for volume or are you trying to hit all reps in one set?
I used the 10X10 with a 13lb hammer (homemade) for 90% of all training and PR'ed by 20'(light) and 15'(heavy).

I certainly would only do 10 max in one go.

And I wonder whether a few less would maybe serve better. A set up like Mr De Bruijn has, where you throw into a net would be pretty sweet - save all that tramping up and down for at least 30m, doing the clown shoe walk! And practice release.

Well all this is experimentation at the moment in the hopes of getting used to my hammer boots.  I am doing 'sets' of 5 winds each.  I guess if I could get ten in a row I would try it but after about 5 I am losing my balance and the form goes to crap.

The idea is just to get a bunch of consistent winds in a row and find my center of gravity.  Hoping that this would then carry over to when I go back to actually throwing.

I still plan to only have about 3 winds when throwing.  This is just a break from the routine (that I had plateaued on) and a way to work my core, find my balance, and get used to the boots.

So far I have been just shooting for 20 sets of 5 winds.  Only counts if the winds have good form and extension, and I am working on slight increases in speed on each one...nothing full speed yet as accidental slip in back yard and any of three houses could be hit.
