Alright, what about chalk blocks? I assume you can find them at sport stores?

It works. I recommend gloves with it, as it can be kind of harsh on hands.
I use it for practice with hammers. It can be especially useful for hammer winds, when you don't want it to come loose. The other competitors will not be happy if you spray down the handle at a game.... A little on a taped thumb for hook gripping weights is also good. That being said, the good tacky works much better. |

purchased some "Spider Tack" competition grade stuff from Jackal's- the stuff is actually too sticky to throw with- can't release hammer without ripping off glove (felt like one of those Bud-light commercials with Carl Weathers- where the dog gets stuck to someones hand)- I would go with their lower grade stuff if I were to purchase again (or go with the Larry Brock tacky) anyone now how to dilute or weaken tacky?? |

simple enough. get it warm, so it's really runny then mix it in a new container with some water. get it well mixed, and seal it all together. it should weaken it.

I use the glue on a glove with the weight for distances and just a small spray on my bare hands when throwing the hammers. I personally don't like chalk. |

It is my understanding that the spray adhesive works as a solvent when combined with the resin based tacky. So when throwing hammers in A comps where most of the guys are using tacky, use of the spray adhesive is discouraged, as it makes the handle quite slippery. I have mooched tacky up to this point, but I will contribute to the cause this year...
Chalk is good for what it's good for, and some sporting good stores will carry it. Another note with the spray adhesive. Be careful if you apply it between the fingers for caber. If you apply it then put your fingers together immediately it does a REALLY good job of gluing them together if you have them taped. At this point, don't miss a pick on the caber or you will likely have a heck of a time getting them apart before the kick of the caber. The kick will effectively break the bond, but you will have bruises on both side of every middle knuckle on both hands... |

Yes, most of just drill into a pine tree and wait for the jar to fill up.
![]() Seriously, it's rock rosin and turpentine and heat. If you are going to attempt it please research and take the proper precautions, the fumes are quite flammable. |
