WFD - You need to pivot on your left foot when making your
cast (start of 1st turn)and not step forward. You should start that turn as the weight passes your right hip going forward. Try that and see how that feels and feel free to post more when you have that down. Hammer - Arms don't look too bent so that's good. Very rigid from the shoulders down. Hammer is a whole body with the lower body, especially moving hips, to generate torque and to counter the weight as it goes around. |

Nice to see you here Cousin!
WFD: Look up! I need to do the same thing, believe me. The one thing I hear over and over is LOOK UP. What Al said about your hip is right on as well. Your hip flexor is going to power your body through the spin. Hammer: Get some pvc piping and make and some smaller plates. The wire/chain hammer is a totally different feel and may end up hurting your throw. I could be wrong on this, so someone should let me know. Still though, Al pointed out what I would have. Keep it up "Little man"! |

The chain hammer is fine, several very good throwers use a chain hammer. I would change out the handle, though. Get rid of the rig and instead, thread the chain through an 8-12 length of galvanized pipe. Put a short bolt or a bent-over nail through the last link so that the chain won't slip through the pipe when you wind it. Then duct tape the hell out of that bolt so it won't rip up your hands when you release. Make SURE that whatever you have in there to keep the chain in the pipe doesn't tear up your hands, OK?
Weight for distance... 1. watch video. go to http://www.kiltedthrower.com and watch a million videos. Go to YouTube and watch video. 2. Like Al said, don't move your left foot forward before you start your spin. Secondly, dude, you are standing up straight through that whole throw. BEND YOUR KNEES and only come up at the very end. 3. Finally, don't watch the ground....head up. The ground isn't going anywhere, I promise! Good luck. |

Oh, yeah, one more thing.
Ask around and find someone nearby who's done this before who can help you. You will save a whole, whole, whole lot of time if you get some coaching. |
