So what exactly is lifting with speed? For those of us that don't have any of these $1K machines how do we judge? I took some vid last night of my 6*1. The first is a working set, the second is a cooldown set that I added for contrast. Would love feedback on whether my work sets are actually 'speed'.

im not trying to be a dick but im gonna sound like one, so sorry in advance.

thats not how a deadlift looks at all. you are grabbing the bar and jumping. what does your normal, heavy deadlift look like? do that, but at a low enough weight to where it feels like you are completing the motion quickly. the bar comes up to mid-thigh, then the hips move forward and the back extends to finish the movement.

dont do what you were doing in that video anymore, ever.

LOL....no dickishness at all.  I honestly have never done 'fast' deads, I have ground out every dead I have ever done since I was 15.  So in a 'speed' block what is supposed to happen, I have no idea.

So ur saying I look rediculous?

you just deadlift, but do so as fast as you can without wrecking yourself.
I'm just an idiot, pretending to be smart.

When I first started doing speed deads with a Tendo unit the only way to be quick was to jump, same with the squat. In doing these one day with a sore ankle I found a quick hip thrust could give the same quickness. This quick hip thrust carries over well to the sheaf for me. 50% of your 1 rep max works well. Keep a flat back the whole time.
