Would adding in some 1 hand deadlifts with a ring be beneficial, I've spent some time lately thinking about how to train off season when I can't throw outside. I was thinking of adding them once a week once the snow falls. Doing them heavy, and quick with a shrug at the top. Could do them deep off blocks, or with a  revolving handle to train grip. With or without thumblock, it seems theres a ton of variations too.

One hand deadlifts.  Did them in prep for going to Scotland in October to try the Inver Stone and the Dinnie Stones this past past week and tied a pr in the wob this weekend.  When I picked up the weight it felt light in the hand.  Just an observation.

First time trying it, got 250 with revolving handle with thumb lock. Was able to get fast reps with a shrug at the top with 185 for 8 reps, these were all from the floor though. I'm sure these are weak numbers on here though. Off blocks would definately be better. Skullsplitter: did you lift the stones? Did you hit PR in WFH?

I go to Scotland in October for the Inver Stone and the Dinnie Stones.  Just doing the one handed deadlifts now to get ready.

Just curious Skull. Do you like to pull up with the weight beside you like a suitcase lift or between the feet. I find both ways beneficial.

How exactly do you do a one hand deadlift with a ring??  I mean I know how to do it, but what are you deadlifting with the ring??  Is it attached to a bar??  Something else??  Also, where do you find a ring big enough to get your hand through to pull with??  How is the ring attached to whatever it is your going to be deadlifting??

Go to http://www.ironmind.com. They have everything you need to make
it happen. Specifically:

The ring:

number=1258

Loading pins:

number=1313
or

number=1314

In my experience, you can't go wrong with anything from IronMind.

played with these last training season....

at about 190#, using a bar, i did 275 from the floor and 325 lockout from a squat rack (mid-thigh).....hook grip and lots of chalk!

this season, i'm gonna boost my one-hand lifts without relying on the hook grip so much.

I took my old homemade 56 rig and put 45s on it instead of 10s it works good except I can only fit 4 plates on it for about 190 lbs.

Randy you already have perfect form if you get any stronger you will kick my a** so stop lifting old school any try the Jane Fonda workout !

Did the one arm deads - I guess the suitcase style - w/ 100lb dumbells - from floor to a shrug at the top - 4 sets of 5 - like it ! I'm sore in strange places - must be working! Recommended. Looking foward to going over to UT and dragging out the BIG dumbells.

Mike,

Try it using barbells, instead of dumbbells.  It's even more fun....

Just a little bit.

You'd also seem to be a candidate for doing the bent press using a barbell.
