Sadly, we did not break a Guinness Book World Record !! But it was the first multi-day highland games in Iowa! Also, I can say we had the headless horseman from Sleepy Hollow TV show at the games.
Now as an AD, what else was I suppose to do .... Oh yeah - results (old farmers advice: best to be a smart one than a dumb one) They are in the database. A's: Luke Crowley. Brian Hare, and Eric Rothwell. This is Eric's first games. B's: Ethan Tuftee, Jordan Pinckney, Steve Ott -- Ethan was a walk-on, never practiced any of the events but was all state shot putter. Jordan had the longest stone put of the day!! Womens: The most competitive division (close to traditional order of events) - Katie Steingraeber took the early lead through the stones and weights but Jessica Hare, Candice Mann, and Elissa Hapner were sticking close. After 4 events: 7, 10, 10, 12 pts for Katie, Jessica, Candice, and Elissa. -- Jessica and Candice split the hammers resulting in Jessica pulling out to a 2 pt lead with Candice and Katie tied for second. -- After the caber, which was 14', 70# pig of a caber and won by Katie, things were all tied up for the top 3, with just the height events left. -- In the Sheaf: Katie, Jessica, Candice and WOB: Katie, Candice, Jessica. Over all: Katie, Jessica, Candice -- awesome competition Masters: It is always an honor and privileged to have Bill Leffler and Dean Ross on an athletic field. They went 1 - 2 in the "Legends" division 40-49 - saw Tim Thoma, Jeff Armstrong, and Jason Clevenger with some great throws -- The masters flight was the first flight to do WOB. The height standards was right next to the First Aid tent. The Doc who volunteered to worked that tent was more in need of medical care as every throw she thought the weight was going to land on the thrower!!! I hope she will be back next yr!
