This October 9-11, the Fort de Chartres State Historic Site in Prairie du Rocher, Illinois is hosting an event commemorating the 250th anniversary of the French surrender of Fort de Chartres to the British. This was the last event of the French and Indian War, and the British soldiers present to accept the French surrender were the 42nd Highland Regiment of Foot (The Black Watch). We at Fort de Chartres would like to invite a member or former member of the Black Watch to be present, or even involved, at the event. If anyone here is a member or knows anyone who is and might be interested, please contact me at david.schultz@illinois.gov.

Also, if anyone else would like to participate in or visit the event, please feel free to contact me for more information.
