Just wanted to see what is out there in terms of Bonus or Challenge events that are outside the norm of our normal 9 events. Any favorites? Ones that you expected to be great but turned out to not be that good? Haven't ever had many and just wanted to hear of some fun!

I like keg toss the best. Unlimited approach, usually for extra money and one time in Canada, for a case of great beer. So that's awesome.

Stupid stone sometimes is fun but mostly it's just straight heavy. And of course you cant forget the Loon Stones! Maybe I'll do them someday...maybe.

Sheaf for distance or the stupid stone.  I don't know why I enjoy throwing the really heavy stones.

For crowd interaction and enjoyment, I think it has to be either a challenge caber or some sort of challenge height event. The distance stuff gets tough for them to see and judge, but as is the case for our sport, the height events and caber are the most watched and easy to cheer for.

The keg toss for height in France was fun, and a challenge sheaf event is always a crown pleaser. In years past, we threw an anvil for height in Costa Mesa for a challenge event.

I have to agree with Dan. As far as the crowd is concerned a height event or challenge caber are typically the best.   We did a keg fire height in Utah that was a lot of fun.   I enjoy the keg fire distance as well.

Which Games has the sheaf for distance, and do you have to put it or throw it with the fork?

By far my favorite is the off-handed throwing competition each year at the CLAW. Only time I came close to beating a Pro Class guy at anything.

That was a little lunchtime extra curricular activity that came out of the mind of Matt Vincent.  The Claw neither authorizes nor opposes such shinanigans!

Yeah, but didn't you cheat?  lt was "off-handed" and you used your left hand but you are left handed!!

I call slander good sir, I used my right hand! Not for a lack of trying, Andy Vincent only called it the Left Handed throwing contest at first and I was more than happy to take him at his word.

Farmers walk. Particularly when the spectators are allowed to compete. I recall one year at Pozo there were a couple of 'gym bros' who had been spouting off from the sidelines in their string tank tops all day about how the athletes weren't that strong, we're all just fat, and so on. The pure joy of watching them get beat by a couple of the ladies, and every single one of the men was priceless.
Cheers,

Carlos

Caber for distance or height is always fun.

A keg toss variation seems to be a crowd favorite, as well.

You were the reason we had to change the name.  I think left handed throwers should be banned from the games.  For safety.  And general untrustworthiness.

Our lunchtime shenanigans at The Claw are always a good time.
I like caber, so I like challenge cabers, especially when they're difficult to turn.
Keg for height is great fun, I'm not sure why more games don't do this.
Big stones are ok.  Not great for the crowd, but I typically throw them well.
