The post you have all been waiting for has arrived. Bring it, West Coast. Ouch

2016 Women’s East/West Challenge hosted by the Central Florida Highland Games

January 16-17

East Team line up

Adriane Wilson (Captain) from Irmo, South Carolina. Adriane loves her husband, Joe and their three dogs and even the cat. She is a 5X World Champion in the Highland Games and owns the 28lb. Heavy Weight for Distance world record at 53-2.5. She is a Loud MacLeod and favors the caber toss and heavy weight.  Adriane’s favorite vices includes salt and vinegar chips and Cadbury’s Dairy Milk chocolate. Adriane makes funny faces and noises throughout the day. She is the goofy one.

Danielle Curry from Columbia, South Carolina. Danielle is a mother to two cats, Turd Ferguson and three legged/nub tailed Eileen. She works as an anti-money laundering agent during the week and is a ninja on the weekends. Danielle won the Women’s World Championships in 2014 and her background in the throwing events of track and field makes her a threat in all the heavy events. Danielle recently competed in Russia for the WORLD MAS Wrestling Championships where she brought home the silver. She will be the enforcer of the East team.

Nikita Halteman from Philly, Pennsylvania is a forensic technician and strongwoman competitor. She likes to smoke cigars and drink whiskey so security will pat her down for contraband before the game begins. Nikita returns to Winter Springs a taken woman. Her fiancé, Frank Marzano proposed marriage down on one knee under the weight over bar in 2015. She aims to be an American Gladiator when the show is resurrected once again. Nikita is the wild card of the East team.

Juli Peterson hails from the Cheese Capitol of the World via Maui. Juli hopes to get an early start to her 2016 season since she is usually buried in snow. She is married to a very large man named Matthew Wanat and they travel around the globe throwing and lifting heavy stuff. Juli can be seen on the field with a beautiful flower in her hair and be heard spewing words that would make a sailor blush. Juli is the spice and everything nice about the East team.

Amanda Larson (aka Ford) lives in Wilmington, North Carolina. She has a five year old daughter who will never have to worry about anything because her mom is a former Marine who used to be a machine gunner off of helicopters. Plus, she is pretty jacked too. A rising star in the south, Amanda brings the intensity to the East team.

Adversity cause some men to break; others to break records.

Just adding the West team to the mix...
~C

On January 17th, in the battle of East & West, the Highland games will have never seen a team this focused, this well trained. Countless hours have been dedicated individually, but when called to action, the Women of the West will assemble like earths mightiest heroes to face five time world champion, Adriane Wilson, and her rag-tag band of misfits from the East. When forces like these collide, only one team will stand tall, and there's no force greater, than that of the superwomen of the West.

This years West team consists of Heather "Heater" MacDonald - Heater is one of our veteran throwers who brings consistency and strength. Heater was the Southwest 2015 SGL Champion! Heater lives in Arizona and is a professor at ASU and many other places filling our empty minded citizens with much needed knowledge and also helps them form their own opinions and not to follow societies norms.

Melanie Gordon Mellinger- who resides is Kansas with her family. Melanie works at a Insurance company helping fight all the Kansas tornados and helps people put their lives back together.

Candice Faith Taryn Davies- a power house thrower who has just moved to Oregon and works crazy hours saving people's lives as a Nationally Certified Paramedic.

Chrystal Rubert is our secret weapon from the PNW. She lives in Seattle where she works as an Inside Sales Manager at Seattle Safety ensuring all PNW citizens are safe and protected day in and day out. Chrystal also owns the title as CHAMPION in the SGL for the PNW.

Then there is myself, Captain ‪#‎stainsgainz‬ of this Mighty Crew. I work in retail where I have the power to either make someone's day or put them in their place. If you know me, it's more like making people's day and putting a smile on their face! Don't underestimate my toughness though!! 😉 I'm also a fun loving back to back caber champion who loves the Highland Games and all it has to offer. I also love lifting in PL meets and I love puns and cheesy jokes.

My West team is filled with real life superheroes and I can't wait to throw with them! I am looking forward to a great time with all my HIGHLAND GAMES GIRLS!!

There are many things in life that will catch your eye, few that will catch your heart. Pursue those.
