Raised boots are not allowed; I believe Bobby Dodd was called on these at one point.

If you walk out to the WFH in shoes like that...wow!

Shoes...Tanel 360's seem to work well.  Adidas turf soccer shoes are great for getting across the trig in short grass, but you might want something with more aggressive cleats for longer grass/wet or muddy conditions/and caber.

Of course, got my a$$ smoked by QM in the HWFD and he wore jav boots.  And, if that was not bad enough, I don't think he tied them.

Shot discus shoes are almost a no-go...too slick and you won't get purchase on the grass...maybe for sandy soil.

Have a few pair in your throw bag either way...you never know what might happen!

Aaron,

Jav boots have worked well for me in muddy conditions in the past because I have the half inch spikes in them and they seem to grab a lot better in muddy conditions.  If you get in a situation where there is more water than mud they work well too because they are easier to clean out than football cleats plus they are generally lighter and do not weigh 10lbs a piece when they are soaked.

For hard grass I use some Puma 5000 meter racing shoes, I got them on Ebay and there are generally a pair or two on there.  I do a full spin and have had very little slippage with them.  Of course I throw mainly in Texas and finding hard ground to do a good full spin is not difficult.

I throw caber, sheaf and WOB in my old nike softball cleats with about a half a bottle of gorilla glue holding them together.  Those shoes are the back up if things get real nasty in the other events.

If you don't have time to do it right, when are you going to have time to do it over?
