Yep- good mornings FTW.

At this point all pulls are as fast as I can manage with as much explosive movement without getting a bounce in the bar.

Since a little birdy decided to tell me I wasn't quite explosive enough, today was all about the jump factor...

25 floors on the evil escalator stair climbing

Mess of ab stuff - russian twists, v sits, twisting planks, cable twists etc.

Jumps - box jumps (8 risers, 9 risers, 10 risers), side jumps, switch jumps

12lb Kettle bell swings, lifts, hatchets etc

5 miles on the stationary bike

Thursday - went over form for wfd

Friday - threw a full 9 events at Texas Scottish Festival, have to love throwing late enough for them to turn on the stadium lights

Sat and Sun - spent the day helping judge/score/mark for the other throwers

No real sunburn, but a whole lot of tired to show for it.

Today's workout brought to you by the letters AC and the number 0 - meaning no AC in the gym today! Only managed about half of what was planned before the heated stank of sweat, rust and funk (most of it mine) stole my give a damn, so here is what we have for today...

DB Lunges 4x15 65lbs

Captain CaaaaaaaaaaaaaveMaaaaan!!!

What a way to start a Saturday. Quick drive up to Bridgeport for my first ever MudRun, the Cave Man Crawl. A 5k run with 21 obstacles - tire runs, barbwire crawls, swamp runs, hills (SO many hills!), swimming, rope climbs, balance beams - this list goes on. I am not sure what was harder - the obstacles or trying to run while laughing so hard.

http://www.cavemancrawl.com/Home.html - http://www.cavemancrawl.com/Home.html

I will be doing that again for sure!

Line drills, eh????  I guess that's doing the wfd turns in a line- I heard Mindy does those.

Do you do hammer winds with the actual hammer???  Larry had me get one of those thick rubber bands for stretching- you loop it through a weight and that works really well for hammer winds.  I like it.  ;)

Oh yeah!  Major props on your Mudrun!  We have those here, but I've yet to do one myself.  :)

Posted By: BrittneyBoswell
Date Posted: 6/15/10 at 2:38am

Yep, line drills, seems they will become a part of my world on a regular basis until I get my travel pattern, speed and rhythm corrected. From down here I can't give up anything on form or technique.

The evil of hammer winds is done with the women's light hammer of square ugly that I have. This is going to become a daily routine for me til my hand and grip strength are up to par, and my hammer numbers look a bit less... tragic? With the set up you are using is there more fluid movement?

Mudrun was a hoot! There is a 10k MudRun in November I wanna try. Cold and wet and muddy - yep, sounds fun to me.

Let me just say that 10MPH is an asskicker for a short girl! Sweet is not the word I would use, but I will be doing it again - SUNDAY! Between that run and the lifting it was all over once I sat down at the house, hot bath, some stretching and that is all I had left for the day.

Yesterday was the Stillwater Celtic Festival, hosted by one Jon Irvin. Fun was had by all. While I didn't keep nearly so complete a record as Matt did of scores, I do know that I PRed in light hammer and the rest of the day was a bit of a gut check about my consistency. Truly strange to have my last throw of the day be my best, but I had a good example to follow all day, Jamie.

The lull in the season will be spent working on some fundamentals and strength. Today will be spent being a slug and trying to get rid of some of the most interesting tan lines I have ever had.

Today's installment of Story time with B - Had a charming older gentleman inform my lifting partner while I was in the middle of a set, "Don't let her get too strong or she will think she is in charge." He then went on to say how very nice it must be to get to share athleticism across the gender line, women in his day simply didn't do things that would cause them to look as if they had broken a sweat or seen much sun.  When he moved on to his next exercise he smiled at me and told me to keep on doing what I was doing, then proceeded to shame half the young bucks in the gym with his lifts smiling all the while.

It has been a coon's age since I really maxed out on
anything for single lifts, but I will see what I can find
out for you.

I like the back extensions just fine while I am doing them,
but tomorrow morning those will make it rough to get out of
bed!

Adventures in Caber Making - Part One
One of our girl's as a plot full of trees she wants
removed, several of which could be turned into decent
cabers for various classes. After repeated attempts to
get the chain saw going, Kim headed back to the local
Lowes to get further instructions or a different
chainsaw. This left Miranda and I alone with the trees. A
bit of digging later we discovered a handsaw! Some
determination and swearing later - we pushed down our
very first caber. The result: sixteen feet of cedar
waiting to be shaped sitting in my garage! This evening's
adventure: saws-all and belt sander time.

Finally we have proof that I am, indeed, a delicate

horrific allergic reaction to poison ivy. Yep, a little
