I tweaked my knee back in august and it is fine until I put a decent load on it.  The most I have tried on it so far is 180 on a leg press (both legs). With that, I can still feel a twinge in my knee.

My question is  I know deads and squats are really the best exercises.   Does anybody have any non-knee related or light-knee related exercises that can keep me going.

I am good with all the std stuff (bench, flyes, curls, cables, etc). Just hoping some of you experts might have another alternative...

Thanks in advance

Jeff

The smart play is to go to a doctor and get an X-ray and MRI done.

I agree with Craig on a decent assessment.

In the meantime and in between time, glute work, hamstring work, tons of quad stretching. SG RDLs should be dandy. Partial ROM single leg squats (complete pain free ROM. Even if that's only an inch). Terminal Knee Extensions.

NSAIDS, R.I.C.E.

But get it checked ASAP. This shit doesn't get better without knowing what you did.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I actually went back in August and the doc said there was no swelling and couldn't "feel" anything in my ROM. At that time I was having a hard time walking on it. Within a couple weeks I could walk on it with no pain and just minor pains when bending. He said at that point he wouldn't recommend an MRI and my insurance will not cover it unless it is recommended.

I might need to find another Doc...

Of course, I guess that extra 100lbs I am carrying isn't helping it...

Time for a new doc imo.

Once you actually know what the issue is, it's much easier to prescribe or evaluate some type of prehab/rehab/training.

I say have an MRI done. Xray won't show any ligament or meniscus tears. Honestly many don't want to hear it, but that is your only option, go get it checked instead of guessing.

You did not say what part of the knee is hurting, is it the tendon from the quad or the lower knee, is it between the bones in the cartlidge area?  I can tell you and Steve P will I am sure agree, you do not want to blow the quad tendon off there.   That can ruin your day.
