I need to do more specific training of my abdominals.

So I was wondering....what are your favorite Ab exercises? Or if not favorites, which ones have you found to be most effective for throwing?

Thanks!

Russian twists.

The best ab exercises for throwers is throwing. But when your hands get too torn up, I think plate twists and swings are pretty good.

I call them "hammer wind ab crushers" and I got 'em from Josh Grace.

Like this....grab a small med ball or a 10 lb plate.  Get on a roman chair facing upwards - that's butt on the pads, gut facing the ceiling.. You could also do this by sitting on an exercise ball with your feet hooked under a bench or something.  Hold the med ball / plate out down by your knees with arms at full length. Now, SLOWLY move that ball around as if you were winding hammer. REACH for it.... don't go fast.. REACH out to the sides.

I do ten going one way...take a breather and then do ten going the other way.

I also sometimes do what are essentially hammer winds with a 25 pound powerball, but go a lot faster than the ab crusher thing, as above.

....and Russian Twists on an incline board.  If I had the oomph, I'd do window wipers, but I settle for hanging in the captains chair and doing straight-leg lifts.
