Don't get stronger get faster and practise throwing more...
What deciding factor is the most
Important deciding how far your stone goes ,ball or stone speed so instead of bench pressing practise feet position and create some
Smooth movements and your timing will improve which will translate to bigger distances
This works for wfd and hammer, so try this out stop lifting for a month and replace your gym sessions with throwing sessions .
List your distances now and then after changing your routine list and compare.

According to Bondarchuk and others maximum strength does last for about a month. I can almost guarantee that if you stop lifting you will throw farther in the next 2-4 weeks. After that, however, you will see a downturn that will be difficult to change.

Stop lifting for a month? Lol. I see what you did there.

Yeah. If you guys could go ahead and stop lifting... That'd be grrrrrreat.

FWIW:

Switched from PL to Vincent and have noticed my distances have steadily improved.  Biggest factor for me was to think of it as 80% throws, 90% throws, etc.

I stopped thinking of where the implement was going and more on how to get it there.  The fellas with years of experience have it grooved I do not and the practice three times a week has really helped.

Thanks, Vinney.

Perhaps he did not mean actual distances on his throws?

Well this is basically what I'm doing right now. I'm a beginner thrower (I've competed 5 times) & also a beginner lifter compared to most of you guys. I decided that what I needed most was repetitions & technique work, so for the last month or so I've been throwing 4-5x a week & only lifting once or twice a week.

Next Games for me is Memorial Day weekend in Costa Mesa....so we'll see if it pays off. I definitely think I've learned a lot...hopefully it translates into distances when it counts.

I know Vierra did this for years, and HBIII didn't lift during the season.  Personally, I can't do this largely because of the mental side of it, but I do tailor my lifting to really back off the weight room at the end of the season. I agree with Daniel, my body does well for two weeks, but I've got to get back in after that.

Little slow here....

Yes, I won the B Class in Costa Mesa, but more importantly, I set some nice PRs & felt much more comfortable throwing. The events I didn't set PRs I was within a an inch or 2 of a PR. Didn't really have any bad throws, (1 foul in HWFD) so I'd say it was a really successful games for me.

So I have an interesting experiment underway.   Due to a misadventure last July, about all the training I can tolerate comes solely from drills and throwing.   There has been next to no weight lifting in the past 11 months.

It'll be interesting to see numbers coming from my first game back at it come July.  Right now I'm down below PR level, but not a lot lower.

Of course, this experiment is flawed in that I'm a beginning thrower so pretty much anything I practice makes me better - but, for beginners, this data could be useful.

That's good to see it working, without trying to back track there is nothing stopping you doing some quick medium heavy snatch/clean/ presses but only doubles for a
2 sets of each to reset your working muscle memory..

Keep it up..

It's brain/spinal cord thing. High velocity changes along vertical planes cause problems. High exertion shuts down balance and fogs vision. And, any type of muscular soreness nails me to the floor.   Apparently have diffulty processing pain signals.

Finally dug throwing patterns out of that swamp and am please with increasing volume. For now, I'm curious to see if I can hit or exceed PRs by technique and focus.

My goal is modest. The PR I want most this summer is "Made it to the beer tent!".
