Training was short but turned out better than I thought

Cleans
135 x3x2
185 x3x2
225 hang clean for 3 sets doubles
275 hang cleans didn't catch them but pulled them high
went to 285 and full clean and jerked actually more of a power clean and push press
then I decided to go 305 clean and jerk (still more power clean and push press) and GOT IT!
and that was all the time I had will put up a video a friend took.

started with the 62 for 6 throws best of 31+
went to the 56 threw about 10-15 throws best of 36+ just not hitting the power right I'm going to get the video camera from my dad and post some videos so maybe I can get some input on what I'm missing here weight feels so light just doesn't seem to fly.  Doing 20lb sheaf later will update on how that goes.

It's just good practice anyway man. Remember what we talked about. Tape a throw and then watch it when you go shag. Look and work on certain things. Watch video of your favorite top guy and compare what you do to them.   Real time feedback man!   Your awesome man!!

3 standing no reverse

Alright guess I should get caught up on my log

Sat Night thru Sheaf again, second throw I hooked it and it got wet (rolled in the brook) was a little heavier after that so just did what I could...

ok on to today I threw

62 lb weight for distance 5 or 6 throws hit 32+
then 56 for distance every throw was 37+
ok then I started with the 28 WFD first throw was 66+ then started to go to hell then I realized how much I was slipping in my Tanels so I put on my soccer cleats and wow what a difference and started hitting 67, 68 and the last one was a 70 so needless to say I was losing a lot sliding around with those other cleats will post up some video later so maybe I can get some feed back.

Thanks Don ys my stone has being getting better and better I think I owe it to line drills and improving my power position.
No ECC this year headed to Altamont on sunday Capital District Games.

practice at lunch
took a couple of days off I was feeling really tired and wore out so think those days off helped .
warm up
OS took 8-10 throws best of 50+
LWD started with my old 28 just to warm up then grabbed the other took well too many throws all 68+ and 69+ just could break that 70 barrier today legs still feel a little slow and sluggish going to do some prehab stuff to loosen them up.
No lifting this week just feel like I need to just focus on throwing right now and not feeling that lifting is going to do much with two more weekends in a row.
If you haven't heard I'm going to Minnesota for the World Amateur Championship so that will be my fourth weekend in a row and I'm trying to adjust to be ready for it....

Good day yesterday at Capital District Games in NY one PR and a very hot day

OS started out crappy won with a 42' 6" crap then took extras hit a 46'+
HWD very tough implement only one link connecting the handle to the weight but I pulled out a big throw of 39+ on extras (pr)
LWD sucked only hit 65+ watched some video this morning think I know what I'm missing here
LH good throw 118+
Caber got 3 12's turned the next bigger to a 11:00 then tried the biggest one they had and almost had it got a phiffer
WOB cleared all the way up from 12 to 15! on my first try went for 15' 6" just missed (matched PR)
Sheaf I was really pooped won by clearing 29 then went to 33 and just was not even focused oh well next time.

most everyone there always says the same thing, weird weight...then they end up PR'ing with it. I know my PR is with that weight and I think Hapy did pretty well with it on Saturday too.

Just want to start out by saying I had an awesome time thanks to Kevin, Jeff and everyone that helped out on the field was a great time.

Now lets talk throws ok so stone was not so good for me not that I'm very good at it anyway but just didn't seem to really hit one good think I got low 40's not sure how I placed in that event... then on to the 56 did pretty good first throw was my best 36' 10" for fourth place I think Charles inched me out with a 36' 10.5" on his last throw.... then LWD crappy don't even remember what the distance was but sucked.. Heavy Hammer after the first throw with blades was 83' I took my blades off then threw 92 and 94' 10" and took 3rd in that... Caber was next after Lunch and I was ready to crush this thing was a fat stick but short 16' 8" not sure the weight first turn was 12:15 second was a 12:00 and third was a 11:45 took 1st in that then on to sheaf what a battle have never been around so many good sheaf throwers in one comp, was a 20lb bag 4 or 5 still in at 31 and 4 people cleared it 33 was just out of reach but Nick had a great pull and hit the bar he's close, ended up 2nd with count backs then came WOB not very happy with my performance in WOB 13 and 14 easy and had the height for 15 just didn't happen and I have been hitting that pretty consistent lately.  Overall came in 5th place about were I hoped to finish was an awesome group of AMS now time to rest lift and throw and see what I can pull off at Loon this year.

If any of my New England throwing friends are interested I have a indoor throwing facility and is big enough to do all events it's a horse riding arena and is NOT heated but still a great place to throw let me know if your interested.

Haven't posted in a while had a good game last weekend in Maine got some pointers from Matt Doherty in the LWD and applied them on Monday in practices and was hitting 70's with two throws 75+ so we will see if this gets more consistent or not, thanks Matt!  Mostly been practice this week no lifting, feel like my sheaf mojo is coming back threw a 35' 3" in practice we will see how it goes on SAT will be fun for sure.

Quechee yesterday was a great day beautiful weather and had some great throws

Braemar Stone think it was 36+
Open stone went 46+
Heavy weight I want to hit 38 or higher but just couldn't get there my best was a 36+
My Highlight of the day LWD First throw was a 72+ so thing were feeling on then I nailed one hit a big PR 76' 5" so happy here been trying for so long to get the LWD numbers up big shout out to Matt Doherty again for the pointers he showed me in Maine I really was able to take that and transfer it into some great numbers.
Caber was a crazy one 21' not sure what the weight was between 105-120 and crooked all over managed a 12:30 on my second throw.
Sheaf did not turn out like I wanted couldn't hit a groove felt off on every throw still cleared 30' 3" but couldn't quite hit 32 still took the win but was looking to go 35+  did bother me much was still happy about my PR
WOB I was tired but I have tweaked my form and it's making a big difference went 14' 8" easy then it went to 15' 8" and I smashed the bar so it's def not far off.
Was a great day had lots of fun always love the field out there now to get ready for Capital District Games .

8/30 Capital District games

Pro/am with Dave Barron, Roy Bogue, Hapy Mayer, and Jasen v Guinness

18# open stone - 42+ on last throw for 1st
Hwfd 38' 3" 1st really want to hit 40 just can't break that bearrier.
Lwfd 67+ think I got inched out but got to throw extras and hit 72' 8" not happy with the first three throws
Light hammer not very good at all 114' was my best took 2nd just felt crappy was hoping for a lot better
Caber- 1st place, I turned it on in caber first 2 throws both 12's 3rd was a 12:30 then on challenge caber first throw was a 10:30 or 11 adn on the 2nd I nailed a 12!
Sheaf 1st place, 32' with a 20lb bag went to 34' and I was real close on first 2 throws
Wob 14' 2nd - not happy with this I'm all over the bar at 15 and just not getting it right still working on my new form to help straighten out my trajectory.
had fun hanging out and having a few beers after the game with Hapy and Jasen see you guys soon.
Always have a great time at this game and they take care of the athletes thanks to everyone for another great games in Altamont.

Overall 1st

Loon Mtn

What can I say what a weekend!  Got there on Sat about 1 got to the field and first thing hopped in a truck with Kenny, Tony and Berby to grab some stones to hold the ladder for the sheaf toss.

Then watched some great throws by the pros and Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson throw the 56 over the bar friggin awesome stuff fun day to actually get to sit back and watch..

Sun Morning:

Time to throw first was Braemar not that great I think 35+ second place
Open stone  fowled my first and sure was my best then back off and not even sure what I threw think it was only a 44+ again second
HWD didn't show up for this one think I got a 35+ second again
LWD not bad but not my best finished with a 71+  second again

At this point Duncan is kicking my ass he is throwing really good (he doesn't think so) but he is throwing great I knew I had to pull my head from my ass and lock down the caber
and I did just that first throw 11:45 followed by 2 12:00  after my first throw JVG steps up like a beast and drops a twelve  for 2nd then Carlton on his last throw get an 11:30 for 3rd great throws by both guys duncan has a little trouble ends up 4th doors are opening, going into WOB a very inconsistent event for me all I can think is all I want is 15' today and no matter how it goes I'll be happy and I got it highlight of my day and the first time this year I made 15 Duncan is nailing the bar at 15 and just gets no roll went for 15' 6" and came damn close.  On to the final event, sheaf just hoping I can pull it off went up clean until 34 or 35' 6 think it was 34' 6" know I can make this height both myself and Duncan are still in I was smashing the bar just not getting over we both miss all 3 and tie Duncan get the win on more first place finishes... WHAT A BATTLE! Awesome job Duncan had a blast was a bit upset with myself after that last throw so I noticed the bar was still set at same height so I grabbed my fork to another try and bam easily over the bar, oh well crowd liked it and got that out of my system.  Duncan great Job and I hope we get to share the field again someday also looking forward to training with you at some point now that your in New Hampshire, I think about an hour south.  On to strongman training
