I am able to source stones for the breamar and open stone but am confused by regulations...I cannot touch any part of the trig except the side facing me. So I can't touch top of trig Or step outside of it...correct? Also I know trig typically is round. Do you see any issues with setting up trig with wooden frame? This would make a square of same dimensions. I don't plan on using spin technique. It will be gliding. Still not able to find the thrower in GB so I will do what I can on my own and will email the contact for the games to see if I can get there early for some caber practice and for last minute critique on stones and sheaf. |

1) Correct, if you touch the top of the trig (any part of your body) or if both feet end up outside the throwing box, it's a foul. 2) In HG, the trig is normally a single board 54" wide and (nominal) 6"x6". The throwing box is typically rectangular with a 7.5'foot backline (for open stone) and 9 foot backline for WFD. Wood frames are often used as templates for spraying the box lines on the ground. For practice, you don't need to get so fancy. I usually lay my "trig" marker (a 54" piece of spare PVC) on the ground and measure back the 7.5' and 9' and mark those lines with sticks on the ground. Still a little confused. Lets say for the Braemar Stone I keep one foot planted but step over the trig and step on the field. Because it's not touching the trig, It's not a foul because I've still got one foot behind the trig? Unless I make a WFD out of another stone(we have a hammer drill so shouldn't be too hard if I wanted to) I won't be practicing WFD or WOB, I doubt I'll be practicing those. I'll just mark off 7.5 ft and go from there. Thanks for the clarification.

Look at the diagram on page one of the NASGA rulebook. The area from the backside of the trig forward into the field is shaded to show "No part of the competitor will touch". All the other rulebooks I have on hand are the same: if any part of you touches beyond the backside of the trig, including the top of the board, it's a foul. ------------- Teresa Merrick Bellevue, NE |

Stepping over the trig and touching the ground in front of it is a foul. ------------- Please, please, please dont f*ck about near or in electricity substations. |
