I am interested in getting into throwing in games but have no experience.  I was wondering if there was anyone in the Rochester, NY area that would be willing to show me the basics?

If so my e-mail is mailto:tayfam@computer-connection.net - tayfam@computer-connection.net

Thanks

I'm in Richmond, Va, and I'm also looking to get started in throwing. I don't have any experience, save a short time throwing shot and disc in High School. Anyone in the Richmond area?

Marc, There is a Heavy Events School at the Fergus Scottish Festival in August.  They spend 2 days going over techniques and then on Friday there is a competition just for people that have attended the school.  Warren Trask runs the school with Dr. Kevin Fast, and they are two of the greatest guys you will ever meet. (They've even put up with me for two years.)  I think the World Championships will be there this year on Saturday so it would be a great chance to see the best guys.  Fergus is about an hour NW of Toronto, so it would definately be a doable trip from Rochester.  If you would like more info just send me an email

Pitbull,

Go to the MASA website (Mid-Atlantic).  There are a bunch of guys in the Richmond area willing to help you.

http://www.highlandgames.net/masa/ - http://www.highlandgames.net/masa/

We were just there this past weekend and threw.  What a blast.

MASA...great group...enjoyed the clinic there last year
!

Fergus had David Webstar over for a GREAT
beginners Clinic (back in 1987...wow...thats a long
time ago) I remmeber (?) that there were 3- 4 pro's
over 40' int he 56-4-Dist ... ...my how times have
changed ...

As a side note...I had been OBSESSING on re-runs
of Fergus on the Canadien Wide World of Sports
(old Keith TIce tapes from the mid-80's that I'm still
trying to locate (hint-hint ) and salivatating to try the
old Fergus Stone (an UGLY 25-lbr) and asked to
see it (try it) on the first lunch break...after a couple of
ginger toss's I was able to spin with it...and threw
over 40-feet. Hamish Davidson ( 5' 9 and about
325-lbs ) watched this with a bemused grin on his
face...waddles over (much like the adult male
Walrus) and picks up the stone and Braemar
style...throws it over 40'...I immediately sat down and
WATCHED... eating my sandwhich like a good
BOY !!!
