Iron Wood Camp this year.  Lance Deal is winding down his first night intro on the  Hammer throw.  I asked a question about using a sport -psych  in training and the MENTAL aspects of training/throwing and he told one of the best stories I ever heard out of a World Class thrower.

Lance being a Wyoming native and having a "stud" older brother was never allowed to show weakness OR fear.  He was EXPECTED to go overseas as the American Record holder and BEAT the Russians.

So here he is standing in front of a throwing audience and said ( in what I tohught would be a true John Wayne statement as he beat them all over there...I KICKED there ass) ...instead he said  " I was AFRAID"

WOW...you couldv'e heard a pin-drop and as I looked around the room  there was a general look of dis -belief...an AWESOME story and sonmething I will never forget !!! 

NICE post by Steve as someone who was there getting his hands dirty on a daily basi for seven years !!!
