Kevin-

I was reading the new articles at Elite Fitness today and thought of you.  They have quite a few article pertaining to training high school and younger kids.

NOTE: I am not implying that I don't think you know what you are doing!!!!

Here's the link:

I thought this might strenghten your argument against those that disagree with you teaching these kids weight lifting.  I for one think it's great.  I hope this aids you in your undertakings.

TP190-

No offense taken! I'm learning by doing. Teaching kids is a very, aah, ... interactive experience,... for example I've found that many very good wrestlers have come back into the wrestling room and have had difficulty when it comes to working with or teaching kids to do what needs to be done. I believe that the same is true for weightlifting. For some reason (maybe cause I'm still a kid myself) I've been successful working with the kids. It might be my corny jokes or my positive approach, but I've got some enthusiastic athletes.

I'm learning what works and what doesn't with the Jr High age lifters. You could go into the weight room with a list of items or objectives and soon find out that your plan is just out the window and you learn to adjust your plans and keep it simple.

One interesting thing that I've found is that many of the fathers want to stay and learn how to lift too.

I'll check out the link, ... thanks for your support.

Good luck in your training,

-BadHaggis
