Following Kevin Henderson's advice on an earlier post, I have oiled my recently cut caber with Linseed Oil and Mineral spirits (2:1 ratio of spirits to oil) and it seems to be curing up nicely.

I will post in a couple of weeks whether or not the crack that had started gets worse.  No issues for a week now.

Seriously dude, it's time to get a life! I haven't checked my cabers for cracks for days now...

Come on out an throw at my place!

Will do.  When's good for you?

And I took an additional step by pouring epoxy resin into the cracks that had begun.  If caber treatment works the same as outdoor wood work, the epoxy will be there long after the caber has gone to dust.
