1. Why does the master d-base denote some athletes ages and not others (have listed date of birth on profile but age still not listed)?

2. How are the caber scores determined'; it apears differnent (and better) than last years method- is there an actual formula?

Thanks

Quote 1. Why does the master d-base denote some athletes ages and not others (have listed date of birth on profile but age still not listed)?

The athlete in question has more than one Master profile and one (or more) of those profile(s) do(es) not show that Master's birthdate.

Quote 2. How are the caber scores determined'; it apears differnent (and better) than last years method- is there an actual formula?

Kurt has set up a formula based on the formula used by the North American Championship ranking page.  The Nor Am formula is explained on that page in the Database section.

A) calculate points for each athlete: a 12:00 turn is 1000 points, other turns are worth 1000 points minus the number of minutes off of 12:00 (1:30 = 910 points); degree scores are worth 9 points per degree
B) find the max points for that particular class at that particular Games
C) max possible points based on class is 1000 for Elite class, 900 for Super A class, and 850 for other classes
D) re-calculate points for each athlete based on A / B * C

Wally, thanks for response- how is the variable B determined (I would assume caber size/difficulty would come into play)?-- however, it would seem, based on the above formula that the smaller variable B is the higher the score?? Also is it safe to assume masters max out at 850 (variable C)

It's at the bottom of all NASGA rankings. B is the max
of all the A's.

A) calculate caber points for each athlete: a 12:00 turn
is 1000 points, other turns are worth 1000 points minus
the number of minutes off of 12:00 (1:30 = 910 points);
degree scores are worth 9 points per degree
B) find the max caber points for that particular class at
that particular Games
C) max possible caber points based on class were
determined by taking the average decathlon points per
event (not including the caber) for the top ranked
athlete in each class for 2008, then multiplying this
number by 1.093, which was determined as the multipler
needed to get the top ranked Pro's average event
decathlon points to 1000 points.
D) re-calculate caber points for each athlete based on A
/ B * C
