Hey Tony...what's a "shrig"????

Is that like a shrug with an Irish jig thrown in?

Might have to try that in my next workout.

sitting here makign phone calls and watching your vids..

over the last year, you have lost a ton of fat, and gained major muscle.  I'll bet you weight more, and measure smaller this year over last.

may I ask, on the overhead, backwards stone throw, how come you stand up on that barrier thing?

Todd, that was K.O. you met. They have the same build. Just like you and I there thin man Todd. Thanks for the vids Tony. I like jump shrugs outside in the yard with an old bar and a set of jeep wheels & rims + weight. I call them redneck bumper plates. I do jumpshrugs but when Ryan was at my place he threw them up and over his head! Tony did you see an increase in distance this past season from last years workouts?

I assume you have lost some weight already.  I hate hearing people call themselves fat especially when they are smaller than me.  Good thing I have a different view on it.  I was 480 and couldn't walk up stairs then when I got down to 330 I started doing HG's with a friend.  I got down to 290 during a weight loss contest in May and tore my knee up.  Now I am back up to 360 and waiting for the injuries to heal.  I have to get back to 290 by Feb.

I was pretty pumped about the snatch Matt. Ive got till the end of May to go
as far as it will take me in that lift. If I get a snatch of 250+ it will be well
beyond what I was hoping for!!!!

Just a bit of critique on the jumps.

Most of the time your feet are swinging out and around to get you up to that height.  In a purely sport carry over sense, that won't add much benefit to your throwing.  (However if you are going to compete in box jumping, hey go for it... )

On that last stack...OW...when you came down off those pads I could just feel the ache building in my knees.  You are thudding down onto the ground.  You might want to put a mat or two down to help with your landing.

Other than that...whole lot of work there!!!

Posted By: phatmiked
Date Posted: 1/04/10 at 1:11pm

TROB,

I'd say all three attempts at 315 were good.  plenty high, in position, just didn't rack it.  I noticed your wraps look pretty tight.  I discovered last OS that if I cinched my wraps down tight it reduced the flex of my wrists and made it harder to rack cleans and snatches.  So, I leave just a little slack now, not too much that it compromises the utility of the wrap, and its much easier to rack the cleans and snatches.  Just a thought.  Try it and you might find that 315 just a step up to 325 or 335.

Good pulling.

Thanks Mike. Ive thought the same. I have those things
freaking tight and ill loosen them up next time.

Buffy my only goal on the jumps is to get my fat ass as far
off the ground as fast as possible. As long as it increases
im happy.

Energy is way down these days. Been doing a remodel of the house and shoveling snow just about every night so im pretty tired.
Heres my pathetic attempt at lifting yesterday:

Jan 21
Played some bball and its a good thing im a teacher because I schooled some kids.
Threw some shot with the indoor track team.
Did some token presses in the gym up to 275.
Still tired.

Possibly, or he could really just be overtired.

Either way, Tony, I think you should back it down until you feel better.

Tony do you ever schedule in an easy week?  Maybe one every four or five.  Seems like your body is doing it for you, maybe you could kind of take control of it by scheduling an easy week from time to time.

Heavy, Heavy hammer looking good.  Might try a side angle next time.

If my work permits, might try to catch you out on the field this week.

been working on that aka Matt Doherty from Canada. He takes three of the
slowest winds then accelerates that thing faster than I have ever seen. I bet
he could pull it from the ground to release without a wind 100'

almost toooo light. thats why I took 10-15 throws after to regain tempo
with speed.

Al Dargie is the best throwing partner out there. Dude shags weights for
me when I want to take 10-20 throws more. Awesome human being.

56lb WFD x 20 (32')(Nothing great but really starting to feel good with
this. Different from years past)

28lb WFD x 20 (64')(Same as above)
