This questtion is to Craig, anyone else having experience with this please feel free to give advice. What squat do you feel carries over to the caber better, Zerchers or Fronts. I want to really bring my caber pulling abilities up this off season. Thanks for the help.

When one of the smallest guys on the field, although very strong can do a braemar with the caber and gets 3 12:00's & I get a 12:15 (Rightly called) 11:30 & a 1:00 using a sprint, I need help.

Please MR. Smith, help me. They're kicking Caber sand in my face.

Sand you say?  We'll have none of that!

Honestly, do both.  For me, they both have their place in training, although if we are talking specifically caber then I would say zercher, due to the additional hip recruitment.

I'n not sure that either will correlate directly with the caber as much as you want though, and i'm sure the argument will be made that cleans/hang cleans/snatches/etc will have better carryover.  But really, nothing in the gym mimicks anything we do to a great degree imo.

One thing we like to have for the caber, especially big ones, is strength.  We get that with both Zerchers and Fronts, as well as a lot of pulling.  There is no too strong.

Equally, if not more important, is the timing when throwing the caber.  How do you carry the stick?  How well do you move with it?  How off is your timing when you start the pull?  Are you hips underneath like they should be?  Do you make sure not to pitch it out?

Never done 'em, but I imagine zerchers would pretty good. Also, don't forget about heavy "cheat" curls (more like a reverse power clean). I always thought those were pretty useful.

The Mayor got me started on Zerchers about 2 years ago and they have helped me in every way. I cant do front squats I have rabies or something and no shoulder flexability So Zerchers realy replace them for me.

Craig, I carry the stick belly button high with head up on a focal point, I can sprint pretty good with hips low, timing is good, it feels more like lack of ooomph.

I will add the caber curls and already added hangs & snatches.

Thanks Steve, I actually like Zerchers more than Fronts but really want more caber ooomph & wondered which one would fill the bill. Will do both & alternate weeks.

Thanks everyone for the help.
