I`ll go first ......

deep breath....

300lb clean and jerk on film on NASGA before PTown.

About 7 months

I was farting around w. an EZcurl bar the other day and did 245 x4. So this ain`t no cake walk here .

Who`s up?

MAKE EM BIG AND BACK EM UP on film  - ONE huge goal for a killer 2010.

Well , you of all people will understand this mindset....as soon as I made the goal and commitement.....I had to take action that instant.

It was all the fake pretty machines gym for normal people had. Was ok. I usually train w. crap equipment . My bar is a 1inch $28 special from Academy that`s bent down on both ends from Don`s release snatches - hard ground here in Texas. I use a grab bag of 1 inch plates - from 50`s all the way down to get heavier than 350 or so. Any more and I head over to UT.

Done it twice w. that bar(see ? I`m also just an idiot sometimes ) and I swear I feel stronger all ready. It`s a long , tight pull and jerk out.

This is a carry-over from the deadlifting thread but I want to finally pull 500 in early 2010.

I would also like to hang clean 225 by spring.

And Zercher squat 350 in 2010.

Mike, this sounds fun. We should be a very close battle. I would bet you are a little stronger than me in the clean and jerk right now. It will be a little unfair because I will be 41 next month and that gives you 10 years more experience.

Here I am today after work missing 275 pounds  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6b4Lo6LC_1Q - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6b4Lo6LC_1Q

Rob, the pull looks good.  You didnt move your left foot and the rt. foot moved back.  When finishing pull think about moving feet out and rebend the knees a bit...  That wt, is ridiculous light, you pulled it up to your chest...

Rob freaking the neighbors out Baab style and then on top of it putting the Florida warm weather in our face.  Nice.  When I come home my neighbor already runs into the house.  I mean if he is mowing the yard he shuts it down and goes in until I am out of sight.

Mike D. have you hit the 300 pound mark already?

Nope.  I hit a 295 clean in my 07/08 offseason.  but, when i got sick the second half of 08 i lost alot of strenght, particularly upper body.

did hit a 275 double PP last night.  I think with a little technical improvement and continued strength gain over the OS I will be able to hit the 315.

You gonna be at Orlando?  I am coming down to spectate on Saturday and compete on Sunday.

Lets see...goals. Well, i feel i need a quick explanation, so im not laughed off of these forums.  Ive been lifting for a 2 months, and my goal is to build a type of foundation of strength (great timing, considering its the off season). I havent been training for speed. Once i feel my base strength is adequate, Ill start training for explosion as well.

Goals for 2010:

Dealift 405  Current is 325

Front squat 300  Current is 225

Back Squat 400  Current is 350

Bench Press 225  Current is 165

So those are kinda the basics.  These numbers suck now, but im hoping to see large improvements.  haha, I always feel so pathetic looking at my numbers, then seeing you guys lift.  Ill get there someday.

Whether your Pro, am a,b,c, novice, master, lifting 100 or 800#...  It doesn't matter, we treat everyone like family..

We are all here to motivate and drive each other...

Well, here goes.

My numbers are nowhere near some of the numbers on here, but I thin I have done well over the past few months, so here are my goals for 2010.

Deadlift: 475 by July

Squat: 400 by July/August

Bench: 300 sometime this year...haha

As far as Highland Games, I am really hoping for some big jumps in nnumbers this year over last year, as I finally feel comfortable at my lower weight.

Training goals...simple: train consistently, listen to my body, no injuries, while achieving 325 bench, 455 DL, 405 squat.....oh yeah, and the wife sez lose 50 lbs!

Throwin' goals...simple as well: turn a caber in competition, get a mark in sheaf, and be within 10 ft of any of Baab's throws!

May need more height to hang with you 47 year olds. The PS is the only indicator for me to gauge success in the wob. Last year I played it safe in the wt rm with anything overhead in an effort to avoid injuries.  Been doing some serious rehab on the shoulder to help with the power snatch volume and the hammer winds. Been digging the training clips.

I'm putting some energy into trying to get the qualifying total for the Pan - Am Masters meet.  So I guess I'd like to get a 70k snatch and a 90k C&J, preferably in a meet.  My Highland Games goal is to carry the large McDonough stones for 10 feet this year.  Got them up and a bit forward last year.

DaaaaAAaaaamn but you boys are STRONG!!! 405 x 10 goodmorning and 500 fronts and EIGHT HUNDRED!!! Those weights would nail drive my ass .

Yall are all working waaay too hard I was just kidding around

Progress so far . Wednesday did 15 10yard grass short hill sprints and a ton of 10 yard agility on grass , maybe 20. Jumprope 100 . Threw a 35lb rock around . Core heavy rotation machine - killer!. Thursday 40 heavy hammer winds - these are starting to feel good again.  I had 30 minutes bn clients and wanted to yank. Slapped on my knee sleeves and hotbalm and my special clean pants and a black KO tank top and grabbed my straps . Loaded up the EZ curl w. 250 and worked up to 3 singles in cleans - rack em all this year . Did 3 sets of 5 continous heavy ass cheater curl cleans for caber w 200. PPress - 200 x 4 x 3 sets - using the split. 20 legraises continous.

Here s a challenge for you boys ..hehehehe.......get an ab wheel and let s see who can roll all the way out to belly touching floor and come all way back up - nothing but toes and hands on the wheel touching ground - yep - no knees .

This weak old man did it 3xs . Any takers hehehe

Baab, I think you and I are on the same page here. Shoveling snow for two hours (you can google "snow") is a great way to work/fry your lower back and hamstrings.

I managed to get an hour of throwing in before the first flakes started falling ("flayks" = unit of snow). Did about ten braemars with the 28# (31') and ten single spins (66') plus some hammer winds. Felt good. I am definitely a "thrower who lifts" (sometimes).

Might even try this "running" stuff you speak of.

CooolOne - google sprinting my brotha.....running is for those skinny bastards from Kenya.

Coool(er?) OneDave - find a grassy slope....uh....ok , find a stairwell or fire escape and do 10-20 short mad dashes in all the agility ways you remember from high school football. I believe Kearney is/was a sprinter. Doesn't NuuYawk Seety have a purse snatching Runaway championship?

Snow shoveling is why Yankee boys are so good at sheaf - Damned unfair I say . What am I supposed to do ? Shovel rocks? hmmmmevilideammm

Don't be a dope, Mike:  it's just about impossible to shovel rocks.  Just come on up and shovel my driveway.  Any time.

A few weeks ago, we had 10 yards of stone dust delivered, but the trucker couldn't put it where we wanted it.  So, I moved it with a shovel and a wheelbarrow.  It took 100 trips to move 14 tons, uphill of course.  The things that were really, really tired were my grip (both hands), my VMOs, and my calves.  My back was fine.

Mike the weights down ( I think I'm under 260) and my energy level up big time. It's been several months since I DL'd;they were flying up. The 10x10 winding down, but the results have been positive. That workout felt very easy after several weeks of 10x10x2 per week.

I've never had a weight training goal besides "train hard to throw farther"
but watching Jon Adams  bust through his 500 pound squat goal and then heave 545 up on the rack....and now aim for 600....

You the MAN, Jon.

...I have a goal. I want to squat 300 by the end of February.  I did this yesterday:  170x5...190x3...210 x1

I've been doing two sets of ten with 150 for  a while, now.  I probably can rack 230 or 240 right now, after a light warmup if I just do it once.

I WILL rack 300 pounds, seven weeks from now!  I WILL.

Oh quit your laughing!  I've never done a serious, more-than-six-week-long weight training program in my life.   I haven't done squats since high school and I'm OLD.

I am finding that if I go slow and really concentrate on shoving my fat ass out back and keeping my chest up and distributing my weight evenly over my feet, my back can take it. I'm OK.  Box squats...NOT....but reg'lar back squats seem to be OK.

I wonder if this will do anything for my stones and WOB.  On squat days, right after I finish I walk around the weight room for a few minutes and then do dumbell snatches, usually something like this...

5 x 75 pounds, each arm (total of ten)....3 x 80 pounds, each arm (total of 6) and TRY for  1 x 90 pounds. I got the 90 yesterday with the right arm, but ran out of gas  in  my quads and couldn't catch it with the left arm.

I figure I want to combine pushing a lot of weight with pushing a lot less weight, as fast as I can.

I've only competed in 3 games, and Berby was at 2 of them. Guy was/is a complete class act and gave me so much help I couldnt even keep track of it all. That and I love his intensity. He's on the far left, I'm on the far right.
This is us in Scotland, CT.

My goals this year in this world include a 450plus DL, 300 incline, 225 power clean.
I'd like a 15' WOB and a 60' LWFD. That and to get my stones to score me points similar to what the other events score me. Hoping if I work on them that'll bring me closer to top 10 LW, rather than top 20.

I'd also like to solidify being a top 10 in my rowing community....which I think I'm close to....but wanna make it real legit.

In a few months I'll be setting the Guinness World Record for longest dodgeball game at 30 hours. That'll be sweet, also turning PRO this year in dodgeball.

One more thing, I wanna do this.
