Ya, right. I just look like a Wolfman.

I'm just trying to play catch-up with all these 20-somethings...OK, scratch that. I'm just trying to stay unbroke and relatively healthy. LOL

Do I have to wait until January to see you again, Bill? I'm planning on throwing Gulfport in the big nWo vs. Clan Dave Smackdown Throwdown in Gulftown in November.

Romanian DLs, light, focus on hip drive
Lat pulls ,6 light sets of 8 reps
Ab work, trunk twists, etc.
Back stretches/mobility
Curls, but not in the squat rack so they don't count. Big smile

I think I will continue with the light duty work. Not lift too heavy(for me) for a while. Throwing one game per month until November and I really don't want to be trying to build strength also over the summer. Just stay loose and inflammation free for a while. Maybe by August I'll want to start in on it again but right now my connective tissue is liking the "low impact" approach. I'm still at an all-time high weight of about 260#. Wouldn't mind dropping 20# of excess insulation, though. Summer's hard on a fat boy.

Looking at squat vid.  Good first set.  Hips and low back in great positions.  With that position you get to apply your adductors to get up off the bottom.  Second set you start to roll under, your hips break and you settle just a tad lower.  Once you do that you completely unload the adductors.  Coming out of the hole is all ass and lower back to try to squeeze up into position for legs to take over.

I know, 'cause I do it too.

I have very few social interaction skills, so I just throw stuff instead.

shot and hammer winds practice.

NOT a spectaculous day

I think more drive and kick on the shot is needed? More extension and head up at the end also?

Hammer, still T-Rexing, not staying loose, everything....kinda frustrated with it.
I must keep reminding myself of this; be patient.

"reinforcing bad form through repetition and muscle memory"
So you HAVE been reading my log!!!

Take a step back bro.  Go to hammer practice, or whatever practice, and work on one or two things.  Tops.  Get those down.  Even if it's as simple as foot placement and lifting the hammer for your first wind.  Lock that in, then move on to something else.

Then it's all about timing.
The truth is, you're the weak, and I'm the tyranny of evil men. But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard...

Thanks Duncan.
Yeah, I do read your log, you're a beast. Gots to learn from the folks who know what they're doing. Besides, you got pretty hair.LOL

With hammer especially I will go back and start from the Start. It seems like that's the event where it's easiest to screw up early and nigh impossible to recover once it's started wrong. With enough remediation and actual practice it may all click for me this year.

By the time Gulfport arrives I hope to have made some progress. Can't let Scott Burnside down, ya know. He might kick me out of the club. LOL

did a light day of lat pulls and biceps/triceps and glutes

spent the last few days laid up with a VERY tight Iliopsoas and multifidus so....
Rolled on a baseball(yeah, that bad) and stretched quite a bit. Still doing it. Medium walks to keep active.

Thinking I may have to narrow the squat stance so my hips don't get so ignant afterwards. Also getting too much quad activation and not enough glute I believe. Going to move to front squats mostly.

Been to the gym a few times since last post. Nothing too serious and not really memorable.  My back has been kinda stupid lately. So lots of stretches and walking. I dunno, wtf?  Really tight left hip and lower back pain. Psoas tightness that is palpable. Unhappy Quad/hip tightness and soreness.

So I watch Olympics and foam roller and stretch for hours.

Not yet Bill. Since my hips and back have been icky lately I havent done any significant leg work with weights. Did some moderate deadlifts last week, then I DID go hiking/camping over the weekend for 3-1/2 days in the mountains. Climbing over 1000 feet in 3/4 of a mile with a 50 pound pack was my most recent leg work. Big smile I'm walking the line between adequate rest for the hip flexors/back and adequate exercise to keep some kind of muscle.

Next week I'll be front squatting. Games in VA this weekend.

Deadlifts, core work, presses on and off for the past week. Didn't keep track of what and when, just as needed.
Walking up and down a mtn several times was therapeutic and much needed as well.
