How are these rankings determined? Only results from the NASGA database are considered. The results must be from a Games in the USA or Canada that take place between 6/16/2012 and 6/15/2013. Competition is limited to the best twelve (12) North American athletes to apply, however, neither Canada nor the USA will be represented by fewer than two (2) athletes from this rankings page. All results will be checked for accuracy. From these results, each athlete's points are calculated as follows: points for an event = athlete's best throw / North American record * 1000 points for caber are determined by the following system: A) calculate points for each athlete: a 12:00 turn is 1000 points, other turns are worth 1000 points minus the number of minutes off of 12:00 (1:30 = 910 points); degree scores are worth 9 points per degree B) find the max points for that particular class at that particular Games C) max possible points based on class is 1000 for Elite class, 900 for Super A class, and 850 for other classes D) re-calculate points for each athlete based on A / B * C E) rankings caber points = average of all Games caber points (D) Official Rules It is the responsibility of the athlete or Athletics Director (AD) to submit all results into the NASGA database before being considered eligible. Results must come from games that provide at least $1,500 towards the Elite competition. This money can be used for travel, hotel, prizes, or however the Athletics Director (AD) chooses. There must be at least four (4) athletes competing in a class to be considered eligible. The implements must meet the weight/length requirements to be considered eligible. Note: It is good practice to consult the Athletics Director (AD) to insure that the weight and length of the implements will be accurate prior to competing. The Braemar Stone must weight at least 22#, and the Sheaf at least 20#, to be counted. Applications must be received no later than 6/20/2013 to be considered.
