Every shot put technique is an attempt at the same thing...getting into a solid power position with a little speed and keeping that separation. This technique does that for you, so use it.

As a coach of inexperienced throwers I often have trouble convincing them that they can throw furhter with a glide. When they do a standing throw everything is where it is supposed to be and often they don't hit the same position with a glide and therefore only want to stand of shuffle...those are short term gains.

I might use this technique in my coaching and if i ever get my fat ass out to throw again. At the very least it is a great drill to feel the legs and separation in the throw.
