I was sitting in the skating rink in Wooster on Saturday night while  my son was out rolling all over the place and I had a lot of time to think.  I sent the below item to a few friends via text as my mind was reeling looking at my 11 year old, 185#, 5'8" or 9" out on the rink floor with a bunch of other tweens and early teens...only a few short years away from being a legal adult.  My daughter's really not far behind him in years either!  Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else thought about this kind of stuff.

What scares me most for the kids is that the kids will become disillusioned by their contemporaries in the same way that I have with most.  Not all but most.  That is not fun. It is lonely.  Maybe it would be better to join the mindless mass in a comfortable and homogenous existence.  A tough call as I keep screaming to them from inside “keep thinking, keep your eyes open, don’t approach the shiny things, know you as YOU and not as US”.  Yet…US is easy and requires only that you put on this…collar…
What is worse?  Being you and maybe running into rare kindred or reducing you to a common denominator and swimming in so much company that YOU can no longer surface to breath?  Did not God create more than the common in each YOU?  My head hurts.

Easy answer - the former!
"Yes, I guess you could say I am a loner, but I feel more lonely in a crowed room with boring people than I feel on my own." -- Henry Rollins
Good luck and God bless!
