Not sure why?

I am back in trying to divide stuff over 4 days. There are two core lifts per workout and if I get just those fine. I have about 3 or so accessory lifts 2-3 sets of X reps based on feel.

With my loooong layoff combined with serious inconsistency before, I am taking it slow. Starting with 10's then 8's to get back to it. Weights are pathetically light, but I am trying to build up and not have setbacks.

BTW how light were the weights?  As I failed at my last set of 10 in the hammer, the Gym owners dogs (two corgis) were there and one came over to me wagging its tail.  I look down and talk to it and it decides to hop up on my lap because well...virtually every dog on the planet loves me! Instead of letting me pet him, lick me or something the damn Dog precedes to spin around puts his top paws on the Hammer bench and knock out 10 reps.

Dog hops down, pees on my leg and goes back into the owners office.

Session looks good.

You can put more than enough work into 30-45 minutes.  The only reason my session are ever longer, and even then it's not by much, than that is that I only train twice a week.

90 minute to 2 hour gym sesh's are for the birds.

Yep. The only reason it would go longer is I am out of shape and need more rest lol.  Also I am going with Hammer bench vs normal for 2 reasons. 1) my shoulders esp the right one doesnt like the bench too much. 2) I really don't care about how much I bench, I am working on muscle balance and I want to throw better. So My Military or push press needs to go up, not Bench.

Shortened week due to that thing called life...

11/12

SSB (*) 3x5
Rack pull  3x5
1 leg press 3x10
Calves 3x10

(*) With the low back acting up tried the SSB, worked wonders no issues with the back. It doesnt take much for it to feel heavy. What I did like is I was forced to stay more upright, tighter with better form. I could really feel all of the lower body engage as it should (and really hasn't for awhile now)

May give this a spin for awhile and see how it goes.

First rule of SSB, Drop the weight. Second rule of SSB....Drop the weight and keep a really tight back esp. Upper back.

Need to do more 1 leg work I think. Left Leg is way behind the right, but it has the worse knee.

If the last couple weeks have taught me anything its I have some serious deficiencies I need to shore up. I may take a couple steps back and focus more on getting those shored up and stabilized before ripping into a "normal" routine full bore.

Its well past time to cut the crap and think long term instead of aiming for being at X place by Y date or lift Z amount of weight in various lifts.  I need to get to a place where issues are greatly Mitigated or eliminated completely.

Ok found out my #1 Back issue... A "back Mouse" or lipoma that has herniated past the fascia. Its on the iliac Crest just to the left of my sacrum. Good news is shots help, bad news, won't ever fully go away until surgically removed and hernia fixed apparently according to all I have read.

So I have to find a way to train and not piss it off.

12/06
Got in and did a light workout.

Hammer pulldowns   3x10
Hammer Bench 3x10

Clean pull off mats (*)   3x5

Light Leg press 3x10

(*) the gym had a couple mats to pull off of still not as high as I would like. Was able to drop the weight and pulled 185 no problem. Got stupid and did one set off the floor, now low back has been spasming since then. Really pisses me off.

I guess its nothing but hang pulls and rack pulls for awhile. It just pisses me off, a man should be able to pick something up off the damn floor without his back bitching at him for hours after.

Back at it light starting today. My log won't contain much as for as weights moved because I have a lot of backing up and correcting to do. Some lifts or reps etc won't make sense, but after stuff that has happened the last couple weeks, things seen, experienced etc.

My goals are to be Healthy, functional, strong until I die whenever that is. Too many cats age 70+ are still lifting and functional at that age and I want to be that.

Just listing work sets...

Zerchers 3x5
Rack RDL   50 reps
Ham curls 30 reps
Calf Raise 30 reps

First time doing Zerchers they are very interesting.  A couple notes:  First no back issues. Second, no need to work core separate on Zercher day.
