Missed you at Scotland, Dwood!
Felt sick all weak, head and sinus congestion, plus body aches - couldn't tell if the body aches were DOMS from squatting for the first time in a while, or from being sick - they mostly resolved themselves by the end of the week, but I skipped Hockey and didn't train. Scotland Games 10/11: BS - 32' 9 (2nd) OS - 41' 8 (1st) HWFD - 41' 6 (1st) LWFD - 52' (2nd) Sheaf - 24' (T-2nd) Caber - 12:30 (2nd) WOB 14' (2nd) Day started out promising - Scott just nipped me in the Braemar - I was going to take extras, and think I had a Season Best in the cards, 32' 9 was just a couple inches short. Decent day with the open stone, and HWFD, but then the wheels absolutely came off with the LWFD - what a mess. Footwork tempo was just horrible, and I couldn't fix it. The rest of the day was kind of blah - actually dropped a caber pick for the first time in many years. Anyhow was great hanging with everyone for the final time this year - I was lucky enough this season to eek out a win for the SGL championship, and I am looking forward to a trip to Albuquerque next May - that should be a lot of fun. Jessica goes in for cycle #6 tomorrow, and I start new job next week - so new equilibrium for training will need to be found. I have to keep my base strength level a little higher in the mid to late season in order to compete better towards the latter part of the year.

So I decided not to go to cold weather classic, off to the basement: Bike 20 min Rapid squats 95x10x5 (trying to do each set as rapidly as possible) Shoulder rehab stuff to get some blood flowing Ssb paused squats 155x3x5 Bike another 20 min |

Have been feeling dinged up and general poor health, so decided to test and see if weight training was the culprit - I still feel kind of crappy, so I am guessing its not.
I have developed a neuropathy on my left middle finger (to go along with the ulnar neuropathy I have had for the last 20 years on that hand), and my right shoulder has decided to be a cranky baby as well. Unfortunately, I just don't have time to investigate possible solutions to this right now. I am pretty sure its not anything anatomical with the shoulder or arm, but think there is something wrong with my neck and/or a nerve in my neck. Will get to a doc soon enough probably, need to decide between PT, Chiro, or Orthopedic specialist though... 10/26 - Hockey 10/29 - Hockey 10/31 - Reffed 1 game 11/4 - Hockey 11/7 - Reffed 1 game 11/8 - 15 min on bike lvl 3 Did cycles of back squat, dead lift, SSB squat, Incline DB press: 95x5/245x5/155x5/25sx10 x 5 sets Added in some shoulder rehab stuff with bands 15 min on bike lvl 3 I wanted to add front squat in to that cycle, but shoulder had a different idea. Am going to change around my ergonomics at my office to see if that helps. Edited by Hapy - 11/26/15 at 9:53am |

5/21 SGL masters championship in Albuquerque.
HWFD 41' 6 3rd LWFD 61' 6 2nd Braemar 33' 2 1st Open 38' 5 3rd Sheaf 26' 6th Caber 12:00 3rd Hh 63' 1 7th Lh 81' 6 7th Overall 4th by 1/2 pt Had a good start with the weights, but left pts on the table in the open stone, just barely fouled a good one. Sheaf was good, but hit the uprights at 23' and ended up 6th on misses. 6 guys made 26', but only 2 made 29, that one hurt. Had some trouble with the caber, but got my head out of my ass and got a 12:00 on my last throw, but gave up pts on countbacks. WOB mad 16' on first attempt, couple of raging ass Cowboys spinners went higher :). Not sure what happened with hammers, I am usually bad, but today was worse than normal. If I am going to be able to compete a bigger national games like this, my shoulder and I are going to have to come to some kind of accommodation. |
