As soon as I can I’ll post video of my frustration but until then, I need help!  I’m having a heck of a time getting my feet to come down at the same in my initial switch.  As a result I can’t get a decent drive forward and I end up throwing with a really wide base (almost a lunge position) about 8in from the front of the trig.

In the back, I’m starting with my weight predominantly on my right, winding, and throwing it in, then letting the weight get out in front of me and shifting my weight towards my left before I (try) to switch my feet.  But whether I’m moving fast or slow my feet are coming down with a distinct ‘plop’ ‘plop’.  By the time my left has gotten down, the weight as continued past any prime point in its orbit for a strong drive the front.

I know about trying to get a tight switch in the back of the ring to allow for maximal drive but I just can’t seem to get my feet down.

Any thoughts on when to initiate the feet switch in the entry, weight speed, orbit, where to direct the weight in the beginning, how your weight should be distributed between your feet… anything?

Thanks!!!

It's almost impossible to comment from reading your text.  Gotta have video!

Even better, practice with someone who's kind of got it figured out.  You'll advance a lot quicker.

Are you "hopping" into the turn?  Sounds like you're accumulating frequent flyer miles.  =)

You want to "unweight" your feet and glide into the turn. That's the best way I can describe it.

Imagine your shoe laces tied together so both feet move at the same time. Rather than jumping up into the air, just lift your feet off the ground an inch or so.  Does that make sense?

Yup, that does make sense.  It's starting to come together now.  I was doing some practice with a 10lb plate at the gym, wind and 'glide' into the turn.  It's seemed to help a bit.  My drive out of the back is much better.  In fact I had to dance over the toe board the first time I really felt it... using the whole trig... weird.

The problem I'm having now is my posture.  I'm pretty bent over and my orbit is all funky.  I've been watching film of Matt Sandford and I have a few ideas for my next practice.

Of course the only piece of advice is really useful is from Wolfgang Schmidt..."the trick to throwing, is to throw far."
