Don,

GREAT work on the GM's...I get into the weeds with anything over 315!!!  A question about your plate twists:  Are these the simple move I am thinking of?  Just your basic side to side move?  Is the plate held at arm's length, or do you hold it in close?

Been doing some experimenting in the gym and my core/rotational strength is...well...low.  And as such, it is becoming a big part of my training.  Figured I would ask!

Keep it up Hoss!

Duncan - I do an old style standing straddel style side to side bend with a plate (25-35) with straight arms all the way. I also do a standing plate twist with a slight bend in the elbows. I would consider some releasing moves (search pud throws) with a variety kettlebells. These will allow you to work the core and accelerate through the movement.

Gene-just focusing my efforts into the wts. Sorry I missed you guys up at Loon, sounded like a typical great weekend up at Loon. First one I've missed in 15 years. Just can't hang around and be a spectator. Trying to look ahead to next year.

All kinds of circut training every day this past week. Wed. past made 550x1 raw DL with overhand/hook grip.

Bent knee g/m and fronts today or Sunday.

Don,

Definitely let me know, the central Vermont crew was thinking about training
up for a powerlifting meet sometime around that time. We'll have a big
delegation with Amy and Nahoami, Carlton, Mike and I. (assuming Mike isn't
beating someone's face in at a MMA fight...)

Don, just wanted to say thanks for the help a couple weeks ago. 2 competitions in a row and only fell on my face once in the distance throws. Had a season best in hw at pipes (19'7") and a personal best in lw at goshen (41'10"). First time I ever went over 40 feet. Still a lot of work to be done just to get somewhat comfortable. Hapy helped me out a bit at Goshen, also. Someday, I hope to get at least respectable numbers. I definitely plan to get together with you in the spring.

Thanks again,

Josh

Don,
great to hear that things are going well, hoping to see you next weekend at the Scotland games.

keep me in the loop over the off season, I'd love to meet up with everyone as well. The guys I train with were just in VT this weekend for a PL meet. I plan on being up there in early Dec. for one.

Thanks, Duncan got off the script last week, just wanted to pull heavier. Back to the pre-russian DL grind next week-alot 80%-90% sets next two weeks. Then a 6 week russian dead cycle, which hopefully gets me into 600 raw shape. Then a westside type cycle for several weeks. The first reps suck for me 2 and 3 are always faster.

Don has used up and tried every option other than surgery on the shoulder and has run out of solutions.  Surgery is scheduled on February 2, and he is still trying to do some things as well as it will allow.  Hopefully they can go in and fix this so he can recover and join us on the field this coming year.  We are looking to Calvary for a reunion.  Let's keep Don in prayer and thoughts.  He needs a break.

Thanks Guys, he made 250 x1 with the Trap Bar last night. He's been following the Defranco/Westside "skinny bastards" routine for about 6 months now.

I think he caught the iron bug hanging at Loon Moutain since he was 7 months old.
