Thanks man, it honestly feels like growing pains, but I aint growin' any more lol.

Also the quad already feels better. Just a couple BW squats cause I'm impatient and there was no pain. So it obviously wasn't serious but I'll play it safe.

Throws today. Just did hammer, wanted to test out my quad. It has felt perfect, no pain at all.

Heavy Hammer x7 best of 101' every throw I put a little more on it. Went up every throw. Pleased.

Light Hammer x12 best of 128' happy here. Started feeling some great hip rhythm. I have a video of a 127' that I'll upload later.

Busy week coming up so lift tomorrow then nothing until hopefully Thursday.

Forgot my shorts to throw at my field after work so I went home, changed, and went to the local HS to throw stone in their shot circle.

16# OStone
Stands no reverse x10 best of 44'
Stands w/ reverse x5 best of 46'
Glide No reverse x8 best of 48'
Glide w/ Reverse x8 best of 49' climbing slowly.

Frustrated with stone, I feel like I'm doing everything right but it's not going as far as it used to. I need to figure out what is different.

Stadium sprints x20. Did 4 sets of 5 and my legs are now jelly and my breathing, labored. Good.

I felt the same way today. Super frustrating. My left arm is lazy and I seem to be slow once I reach the power position after the glide. ahhhhhhhhh

Had a great day today at Gordon College helping some college kids compete in the games. I didn't throw much but I did do some demo WOB with a 42#, which is what they had the men use. Went 19' pretty easily and tried 20' but didn't have it. It was really fun.

Throwz

HWFD x10 best of 42', 5 of the throws were 41'+, nothing under 38'.

LWFD x12 best of 82' less consistent here, but nothing under 76' (once I got going lol)

Light Hammer x10 best of 127' thought there was more there, but whatever, saving it for next weekend.

This week is super busy with coaching but I'm gonna try and get a stone practice in before Wednesday and maybe some sprints but that's about it. Pumped for TX.

2 of 3 Track meets done. Being on my feet all day before I throw is never a good idea but I got some stone in tonight.

23# Braemar x12 best of 37'+ everything felt good, but no zing.

16# Stone
Stand no reverse best of 45'
w/ Reverse best of 46'+
Glide no reverse 47'+
w/ Reverse 48'+ blegh

All my "good" feeling throws just go no where, no idea what is happening.

20m sprints x10
60 Pushups

Chinese food.

Texas Highland Games

22# Braemar- 37'7 5th
16# OStone- 48'1 3rd
HWFD- 41'5 2nd
LWFD- 79'11 3rd
HH- 101'8
LH- 129'3 PR
Comp Caber- 70 3rd, Challenge- 2:00 3rd
Sheaf- 27' 5th on misses I believe
WOB- 17' PR tied for 4th or 3rd. Cant remember.

Overall: No idea yet, probably 4th?

Really fun day out there yesterday. Minus the stifling humidity. And impending severe thunderstorm/tornado warnings. But we managed to squeeze all 9 in in under 5 hours. Impressive.

Stones were better than expected based on practices but not where they should be. Both stones were mint, and I hit good feeling throws, but they went no where. This is going to be a major focus of mine in the coming weeks/months/forever.

Weights were solid. I was winning HWFD with all throws over 40' but then Chuck, on his high horse had the nerve to beat me by 3/4 of an inch on his last throw. What can you do? Pleased. LWFD was good as well but kept going too fast in the first spin, so I slowed 'er down for the last throw and nearly cracked 80'. This early in the season, I'm pumped.

Hammers were good too. 1/2 handles on both. Really missed an opportunity to hit a big one with heavy hammer, kept falling away from the delivery. Light was mucho better. 2 throws over 128' and my last one was the 129'3, and I didn't even think it was my best so I didn't yell! Amateur hour.

Caber was tough, big stick, close to 21' and 125 pounds. Had 3 good pulls on it but no speed. Challenge caber was weird. Like, the thinnest hand hold ever and so whippy, SO WHIPPY. We all couldn't believe how hard it was to even just pick. But once it was up and moving, it wasn't so bad.

Sheaf was blegh. At this point we had a severe thunderstorm headed toward the field. We had about an hour until the nastiness hit so we hauled. I threw like ass, barely got 27' on last attempt. Nothing close to 30'. Meh.

WOB was crazy. In warm ups I realized that I had no flow in my throw (best way I can describe it), so I put a little more dynamicness into my swing and it was poppin'. Over 15' and 16' first shots. Haven't cleared 16' in forever. All of us were in at 17' standing and I knocked the bar first attempt. I was like, there's a chance? Second toss, bam, rolled it over. Stunned. But then Chuck, Andy, and Robin all cleared. And Andy went 18'. Crazy. We finished WOB in about 25 minutes.

Overall I am very pleased with my performance. A few events to pick up and improve, but I think this season is going to go well! Next up is Rhode Island in June, cant wait!

Throws with track kids

18# Shot
Stands x12 best of 45'+
Glides x8 best of 48'-49' finally feeling normal again in shot/stone.

LWFD x8 no idea of distance. Did this off of old discus pad. Felt great, throws looked far. I'm guessing around 80' but I'm a glass half full kinda guy.

Then I lifted.

Warm Up

Hang Clean

135x5, 185x3, 185x3, 225x2, 255x2, 275x2, 275x2, 275x2, 295x1 very poppy!

DE Front Squat

135x5, 185x5, 225x3, 275x3, 275x3, 275x3, 275x3 this didn't feel as dynamic as I wanted. Bleh.

Neutral Grip Pull Ups/Face Pulls

5,5,5,5/12,10,10,10

Then I slipped in the shower and ate it hard. Ripped the towel rack out of the wall. Only thing hurt...my pride.

Was going to throw weights and hammers but decided to BBQ instead and then toss some WOB in the backyard. Broke out the old standard from last year and took a few.

15'3 x2 no misses
16'3 x6 5 misses. Made 1, probably would have made 3 if I had a fixed bar but mine swivels around. Makes for good training.

Weights and hammers tomorrow AM.

Throwz
Warm up

HWFD x10-12 best of 41'+ not bad, was a little wonky for the first 4 throws or so but what is nice is wonky is still 37'-38' so I'm happy. Tok some video and noticed I like don't use my legs. And here I thought I was!

LWFD x8 best of 80'-81'. More of the same, no lift at the end.

Heavy Hammer x10 best of 100'. Nothing to report, missing a lot of drive on delivery.

Hopefully a good heavy dead lift tomorrow, maybe last one for a while. All depending on how I feel.
