Warm Up

EMOM

Dead Lift + Back Squat

315x2 + 255x2 for 20 minutes. Was a pretty good challenge but overall, was not killing myself. Could have had weights a little heavier or had done 1 more rep per exercise. I like this kind of training though.

Glute Med Leg Lift hold Planks / Oblique Work (push bar down against band on one side, lift it up against weight on the other)

2x5 each leg / 4x25 seconds each side (brutal!)

Look out pro class, Jeff Kaste is BACK! Good work all around, but that hang clean is the tits. Your recovery seems to be going well. I suggest you try for a max front squat...plus chains.

Only had 38 minutes to train so I did an EMOM for as many rounds as I could

Warm up (quick)

Hang High Pulls x2 + 1 Hang Clean / Trap Bar Deads (High handle)

235 / 345x3 for 17 rounds. Over 100 total reps in less than 30 minutes (warm up took around 7-10 minutes). Not unhappy.

Going to Florida to visit my parents for a quick weekend tomorrow so maybe just gonna rock some core and push ups/single leg squat stuff. But otherwise, taking the weekend off.

Warm Up

Hang Cleans

135x3, 135x3, 185x3, 225x2, 255x1, 255x1, 275x2, 275x2, 225x3 felt something painful in my left knee, good knee, on the 2nd 275 clean of the 2nd rep. It immediately went away and I couldn't replicate it, but it felt like my popliteus injury from a few years back but to a much lesser extent. A few hours later and it's not terribly stiff. No pain to squat, jump, etc. Don't think it's meniscus....I hope.

Single Leg SSB Bulgarian Split Squats

95x5each, 115x5each, 135x5each, 135x5each, 135x5each, 135x5each no pain but not easy lol

Built a plate loaded KB Swing contraption and it works really well!

Loaded Swings / Side Plank Leg Lift and hold / Ab Wheel

3x20 @ 100# / 3x3 each side with 10 second hold / 3x10

Called it there. Had more in the tank but gotta make sure the knee is cool.

It's less than ideal. Not a ton of pain, per say, but tightness. A bit of swelling behind the knee. Im just feeling defeated because my other knee legit finished healing 100% a couple weeks ago. And now this shit. With a baby on the way in a little over the month, I cant do another surgery, so I am going to just be smart, try to reduce the swelling, and see how it holds up.

I cant replicate a grinding/catching feeling in it like I could my other knee with the torn meniscus, but it doesn't mean that isn't the culprit.

Maybe I'm just getting too old for this shit lol

Good call being cautious but not completely mind-F'ing yourself.   That's a fine line to tread, and you do it well. I wouldn't worry about the new baby. They're pretty maintenance free. As long as they get plenty of sun and water daily they're good. Or maybe that's house plants. Either way, same principle. You got this.

4/5/21

Knee swelling/stiffness drastically reduced today. Tried replicating some meniscus tests my Dr did on my other leg and I couldn't feel any grinding, rolling, catching which is good. but I am still super sus of the meniscus. Possible that it's minor and could heal on its own but doubtful. Going to get some blood flowing into it and focus on keeping swelling down and ROM good. MIGHT schedule an ortho appointment but i dunno if I necessarily need to yet.

Warm Up (20 minutes on the bike, felt great)

Seated Military Press / Landmine Corner Wipers

95x8, 95x8, 115x8, 135x8, 135x8 / 4x10each side at 45#

Seated DB Military Press / Russian Twist w/45# plate / Landmine Suitcase hold with opposite foot lifted

3x20 @ 40s / 3x40 / 3x30 seconds each side @ 70#

DB Lateral Raise / Plank w/Hip Complex added in / Landmine Curls

3x25 @ 15s / 3x8 each motion each leg (3 motions per leg) / 3x20each @ 10# added

DB Curls / Banded Hamstring curls / TKEs

4x12 @ 30s / 1x20 each / 1x20 each no pain at all in either.

Andy is almost always correct so I will take his word for it!

Did some tests with the knee today, the new one, so angry, and I am now 99% convinced it's a meniscus tear again. Sigh. Going to get to the ortho eventually but with a baby on the way, I don't know how smart it is to get another surgery. Might have to tough it out until the fall. We'll see.

Warm Up

Bench Press + 100# chains

135x8, 135x5, 185x5, 185x3, 225x3, 255x2, 265x1, 275x1 got squirrely 225x5, 225x5, 225x5, 225x5 *remove chains 225x15

Seal Rows +60# Chains

135x5, 135x5, 185x5, 225x5, 225x5, 225x5, 225x5 felt good to seal row again

Seated Single Arm banded rows (no hands, band wrapped around wrist for more Lat) / Dead Bug Floor Pres single arm DB

3x20each / 3x10 each arm @ 70#

Over 100 reps of DB Curls per arm @ 40#

Gah! Noooooo! That sucks, man. I hope you're wrong about it and it's nothing serious. I like how rather than wallowing in self pity like most (me) would do, you immediately got back after it. That's what I appreciates about you.
