Lifted last Wednesday but about 3 sets into deadlifting I hurt my back. It's nothing serious. Still a little bit sore but there is nothing but a little back soreness.

Lifted last night:

Bench, Seated Rows, Lat Pull Downs, Triceps!!!

Good lift tonight. Still seeing strength gains that are slow but steady. Hopefully no more setbacks.

Bench
Tri's
Lat Pulls

Squaring tomorrow... hopefully my back holds up.   It feels fine but it makes me a little anxious.

Lift Tonight.

SKWATZ: Trying to stick w/ the sets of 10. This week was supposed to be 10x4x475. My knees made it to through set 6 and then I squeaked out set 7 before my knees had enough. Volume work is much easier on my upper than lower body. Probably going to continue volume work w/ the upper body and will do my best w/ my lower.

Did some hamstring work and lower back stuff also. Nothing special.

Darts tomorrow night and city league basketball starts in January.

Doesn't look like there will be a fight. They said they would find me someone but we are less than a month out and there aren't any takers. Maybe next year...maybe not.

Lift tonight:

Went in planning to get some heavy strict pressing in and do some accessory stuff. Started pressing and my body was just toasted. Couldn't do for 2 what I was doing for 5 two weeks ago. Stripped most the weight and kept things smooth and fast. Just think I need a little more rest. Still did my accessory work but lightened up too.

Been training but not logging. Lifted last Monday and Tuesday, took Wednesday through Saturday off and lifted again last night. Last night was:

Bench
Light Strict Press
Triceps
Biceps
Lat Pulls

Tonight I will Skwat + accessories.

The weather here is terrible and I will likely not see the sun again until April/May sometime but I will start throwing on the weekends. I'm only going to be throwing on the weekends for now... we'll see. Also will be getting an indoor shot put and will be practicing a lot more frequently than I would if I didn't have one.

I've done a squat day, deadlift day, and upper body day since my last post.

Last night was upper.

Bench: 5x5

Incline: 3x8

Flies

Tricep press down

Close grip let pull downs

Ordered an indoor shot last night so I can get out of the weather and still practice stones a bit.

Simple log for a simple guy...

I keep the log mostly just for me so sometimes I log my workouts, sometimes I don't, but I never put too much detail into them outside of a special occasion.

I'm still voting for Evil Knebel... but I'm a motorcyclist, so there's brain damage behind that idea.

Lift last night:

Bench 5x5

Close Grip Bench 3x3

Slingshot Bench 5x2

Close Grip Lat Pull Downs

Tricep Press Downs

Pretty tired last night. Things were moving liked I would have wanted them to...but it happens. City league basketball starts this week so I'll actually be getting some cardio and more plyometric type work in. Maybe I'll be an athlete when basketball is over.

Got out and played some basketball last night. Felt good to run around a little bit. I don't think I've ran since I've injured my knee in the beginning of 2012... Dr. said I shouldn't run.

Not in great shape but better than I thought. Can still dunk the ball surprisingly easy, not like N. Parker but still pretty easy. Can also tell that my overall strength has improved a lot over the last couple years. I was able to get under the hoop and get a shot off more easily than in the past, even with a couple guys hanging off my arms. Good first practice, we have our first game on Sunday.

Workout today x 2.

1st:

Had my first city league basketball game today. We played a team that had 4-5 guys off of a local college basketball team and managed to only lose by 6. Although they probably should have beat us by more, I'm still passed that we lost. Haven't done that much running/jumping in who knows how long. I didn't play great but had about 10 points and a decent number of rebounds and 2 blocks. Had several decent looks but shots just weren't falling for me. I had fun and I'm hoping I will be a better thrower/athlete when the season is over.

2nd:

Bench: 5x5

Slingshot Bench: 3x3

Strict press: 3x8

Tricep press-downs

Lat pull-downs.

Lift last night:

Front Squat: sets of 3 up to 365x3. Finished with some pretty easy singles at 405.

Did some single leg stuff trying to get the booty working...

Basketball tonight.   My knees and hips were not happy. Heavy lower on Tuesday, heavy upper on Wednesday doesn't make for good basketball on Thursday. Probably won't lift again until Sunday after my game.

Threw some indoor shot Saturday morning. My hips and back were extremely tight and I couldn't seem to get them to loosen up. All throws were standing throws and most were right around 45'. Pretty happy with this right now considering my tightness and it being the first time I've thrown anything in 4 months.

Planned to squat, deadlift, and snatch grip deadlift tonight. BUT, I slightly stained my calf playing basketball Sunday and when walking 405 back in after a set of 5 my calf popped. Don't think it's anything big but I didn't want to push it.   Moved over to leg press to see if that bothered it and it was fine.   Spent the rest of the night there getting some HIGH volume work in.

Lift tonight:

Strict Press: 5x5, 3x3

Close Grip Bench Press: 2x8, 2x5, 2x3,

Seated Rows 2x8(wide grip), 2x8(close grip)

Lat Pull Downs 2x8(wide grip, 2x8(close grip)

Curls

Starting to focus more on my back than I have in a while. I was watching something of Brandon Lilly's on facebook and he said something like, "I've seen week guys with big arms and big chests, but I've never seen a week guy with big glutes or a big back. Made since, hence more focus on the back.

Got invited to Phoenix, trying to workout the details, not sure if I can make it make sense for me...but I'm sure trying.

Tossed around the indoor shot put tonight.   All throws were from a stand.   Short was 44, long was 46. Nothing special, but it feels good getting some throws/work in.

This time last year I was just a couple weeks out of my second back surgery in less than a year.   Now I'm healthy and ready for a big year.
