Myles, just saying what I do, after that last heavy snatch and squat, im cooked..  I still train on the scheduled days, but I go in and conserve the nerve system( low exertion level)...  I can only hit one heavy day like that once every 2-3 weeks..  Than ill just start the ramp back up, usually at 40-60%, by the 3-4 wk im back at maximum poundages..  I just think its smarter this way..  I/we can NOT afford to get sick and run down..  We just dont have time for it!!  Hope this helps..  I would also like to see what others say..
Good work bro..  Stay healthy..

Have taken the entire week off and rested.  Feel pretty decent, back still hurting.  This is what I did while watching the Lions and Saints.  Cheryl does a nice chop and gravy.

Back after a week of rest and trained last night.  Was fun in the gym, I go to the YMCA on Bear Bryant drive, it was hopping crazy with the game and all.  This Y was built way back when and is one of only two in the USA that still has people staying there.  The other is NY, is that kind of crazy?

Deadlift, 135 x 5, 135 x 5, 225 x 5, 315 x 3, 405 x 1, 455 x 2.  Was planning on 3 reps, but the back bit me on the second so I stopped.  Good and bad.  I went up 50 pounds still, I am weak.  Very frustrating to be screwing with this poundage.  And it bit me again.  I have worked hard on this, but at least I am going up with the injury.

Went to some deep deep pull throughs for 3 sets of 8.  The back was fine, only gets me when I am loaded.

Step ups, 3 sets of 8 with 35's in my hands.  2 sets of extensions for 20 reps, then some palof press for abs standing.  3 sets each side.  Home for the game.  Baked Ziti and bread sticks with sweet tea with victory and national championship for dessert.

The gym was shockingly tepid tonight.  I thought they would be more wound up, but nope.  Season over, another championship.  Get a new t shirt.

Went in and hit some incline tonight.  135x5, 135 x 5, 225 x 5, 275 x 1, 315 x 3, 325 x 1, 285 x 5.  Was not pleased with this.  Was expecting more at 315, just was not there.

Standing one arm dumbell press, 60 x 6, 70 x 6, 80 x 6, side laterals 2 sets of 10, rear delt 2 sets and then close grip bench , 3 sets of 6.  Did some roll outs w an oly bar for abs, 3 sets of 6.  And I was out.

I went in last night and did some lat and bicep and my junk stuff.

Rode the bike a while to get warmed up, very cold here in T town.  Did some hard stretching of the lower back and hammys, did a lot of static stretch here since I was not working them.  Then onto cuff work, did a lot of that also.  Was thinking of my ortho today and really love the guy, but don't want to see him soon.

Did a few sets of lat pull downs trying to get warm.  My left arm is bothering me at the low bicep some, pull ups are making that hurt, so I need to be pretty warm first.  Using the arm sleeves.  Went up to the stack for a couple sets and then started pull ups, they felt better.  A couple sets of 5 reps and then a set of 4 with a couple partials.

Concentration curls, 3 sets.  Then two sets of standing alternating real slow and strict so I did not have to use a lot of weight.  Did three sets of Palof press for abs on each side and then kicked out.

Came home for a big plate of breaded shrimp Cheryl made with a baked potato.  Sorry no photo, I would have had to walk across the room for my phone and that is way too much effort last night.

Exp with fish oil a lot now days.  From speaking and reading 6 grams is the point the real bennys start at, so I am taking some AST version that adds some amminos to this and then some regular 1400 mg hits.  I calculate I am at 7600 mg right now.  This of course does a lot of things they are showing these days from making your cells more sensitive to insulin to reducing inflammation.  One of the key places of the inflammation is in the blood vessels, when we get the inflammation there we get plaque build ups, so this is supposed to help in that area, an obvious one for me that needs to be addressed.  But I think a lot of us here need to be aware of this problem and take steps for a long future.  I am interested to see if this will help inflammation in other areas of the body.  It makes sense to me that it would, but all just testing my rat.  And my rat has had a tough last few years, you have to be real good to the rat as you only get one.

OK Bull, this is just for you, Cheryl cooked me a Boston Butt yesterday, a whole one.  Just to make me sammiches.  I mean they were unreal.  The she baked up some beans with them, you know the kind that beans are just one of the ingrediants.  Bacon in there of course, make your mouth go crazy.  I will get a photo of this thing of beauty.

On the health note, I added in a new higher potency niacin to my routine.  This is considered a natural statin.  So trying to get my numbers better with the fat in my blood.  Doing 1500 mg a day right now, 500 at lunch and a thousand at bed.  Might try and up that some if this stays feeling good.  Going to extreme with the niacin and the Omega 3's.

Squat night, went in and warmed up, 135 x 5, 135 x 5, 225 x 4, 315 x 3, 405 x 1 and went home.  I felt real strong, but when I started getting up in weight the back felt real unstable and hurt.  I just could not hold tight enough to control the pain.  I was so frustrated I packed it up and came home.

I love the swell of some cort, I am holding water and love it.  Back felt better but it has only been 24 hours.

Incline, 135 x 5, 155 x 5, 225 x 5, 275 x 1, 295 x 1, 315 x 1, 335 x 1, 295 x 4, but just by the tiny little pinky finger missed the 5th for just a couple of inches of help.  But the guy touched it so it was not mine.  The 335 felt pretty good, had a little more there so thinking positive for the next session.

Flat dumbells, 110 x 10, 110 x 8 I was getting amped up excited and went too fast the second set and should have rested longer.  But that happens to me sometimes after I complete that first big movement I am just rolling and feel good.

One arm standing dumbell press, 65 x 6, 75 x 6, 85 x 6.  Felt real good here.  Love cortisone.
Side laterals, 2 sets of 30's for 10, real nice and strict like a bodybuilder.
Rear delt over in the machine section.  Sit down and did 2 sets of 12 with 90 on there?

Straight bar flat nose breakers and I mean strict to the nose passage.  135 x 10, 145 x 8, 145 x 8
One arm push downs, just pump artist action cause it seemed right, 3 sets of 7 or 8 plates on there for a dozen or so.  Just pumping around some.  I was feeling so good you don't want the session to end.  Sure did not want to screw up my pump by doing abs.  So I did not do them then, will lay on the floor tonight and do some.

Alicenchains on the way to gym, love the pain in their music for on the way to the gym.

BBQ chicken, macaroni and cheese, salad w blue cheese, sweet tea.

I just like this photo, it is from my second game ever and my first as an A.  They threw me in with this group.  Scott Brantley, Mike Shea, Chris St. Clair, Me, Hilmar Gudmunddson, KC, Kent Durso, Susan and Kay, David Lyttle, Linda Kimsey, Doug Steiger, Cathy and Jeremy Armstrong, Bob Malcomson.  I met a lot of these people this day and am still close to a lot of them.  These folks are who showed me how to do highland games.  This day was 12 years ago already and I still remember it today.  Kay had just got that new trailer, this was the heyday of the SSAAA.  Wonderful times, the Montgomery Alabama State Championship at the Shakespear Park.  About 8,000 folks there.  David Lyttle was the boss at that time, he won about every game I saw for over a year, and beat a tough crowd back then.  KO and Mike Nease were regulars.  Just a great group to be around on and off the field.

Got home late last night from work and was beat so I went today.  But this is what went down last night.  This morning tried to do a little lat and bicep and go easy on the back.  Did some cuff, reverse pull downs, cable pull overs, and face pulls, all 3 sets.  Then did some concentration curls, 4 sets and two sets of standing light alternating.  Then went and did some roll outs, 3 sets of these.  I did the best I have done with these since starting them.  Came home and did some protein and branched chain aminos.  Have been pounding down the branched chain to see what I get out of them.  Did about 30 of them yesterday total between meals.  5 shots of 6 caps.

Also moved up my niacin to 2500 mg yesterday, going to hit 3,000 today.

Back does not feel as good as I thought it would with the pred.  Not good.

Went in for some leg and lower back, warm up w some bike.  Have completed the pred and put the voltaren back in.  Back felt ok.   In order to keep the poundage down and try and work my legs I am going to pause squat all the reps, get in the hole deep and then stop for a couple of seconds and then come on up.  135 x 5, 135 x 5, 225 x 3, then did 7 sets of 275 for 3.  When I did the first set it felt terrible, my back hurt and it was just not good.  Went and sat down and thought about it for a while.  First I thought about just stopping.  Then sat there more and thought, well I did that one set and made it through, pain or not.  Why not just do one more.  So I did another set and it felt much better.  I think a lot of masters training is just doing another set.  If I can do this one, why can't I do one more?  If I just keep saying that for a few sets, hey we got someplace.

Then went to 20 reps of dead to just below the knee and up.  2 sets of 20 and I was destroyed at that point.  So I went over and did 2 sets of 20 on the leg extension and I could not move.

Came home and laid on some ice on the lower back.  Froze it up good and then had a NY Strip Cheryl did on the grill, w some macaroni and brocoli.  Sweet tea.

After the gym before the steak I had some protein and BCAA's

So to help all my omega 3's down tonight and I am taking a lot of them for my rig, I had 3 chocolate frosted donuts.  2 was enough, but the third one winked and the rest is history.  Went all out with some 2%.  After you drink skim for some years it seems heavy and sweet.  Then put a bunch of Hersheys in there to complete the evening of calories.
