6/11/17   Caber practice before work. Took 10 throws w/ my 16' 135lb crotch punch that sort of resembles a caber. Turned the last 5! That's the best I've ever done with this caber. Speeeeeeeed is what I need!

6/17/17 US Open Championships Chicago Scots Highland Games Itasca IL

Super stacked field and big fun festival. Jeff, Jason, Kevin and company put on a great show! Larry did a stellar job on the mic as always with his silky smooth voice and encyclopedic knowledge of the sport. The crowd was super fun as well and very involved in the competition. The line up was solid and the points were very tight. I had some ups and downs through the day. I ended up 5th and I'm ok with that.

Open Stone: 44'10ish   ***way to start the day in the pooper... nice stone, poor throws****
HWFD: 43'8.5 ***I remember the distance because I tied with the immortal Jeff Katz! Something was a bit off and my thumb is crap***
LWFD: 79'+ ***Same as heavyweight***
Heavy Hammer: 104'3 ***Things be starting to click with this***
LUNCH: Sexy hot beef and coookies!!!!
Caber: Terrible nightmare stick followed by a less terrible caber... no turns
Sheaf: 30' ***season best and after watching video I see room to improve***
WOB: 17' ***Next height was 18'6 but I did not have it in my thumb or the rest of my body at that point***

Thanks for the shout out Luke. I really enjoyed the comp. 2nd-5th went down to the WOB. Miller knew his place was in trouble. Great to see you and Katie again. I have lots of video and will try to get it on YouTube soon if you're interested.

8/12/17 La Crosse Irish Fest

Threw for fun at the hometown games followed much dancing and tomfoolery. Jason and Jane Clevenger rocked it as usual! Friends, family, throwing, cheering, the occasional scaring of normals, all you could ask for in a Highland Games!

I threw pretty poopy but had a blast! Only brightish spot was a 49'6ish open stone after a fool and a real stinky 39'.

Hahaha ok sorry for the confusion... the speed work was in the doubles at 275. My bench day "warm up" consists of working up to a single at 405ish regardless of what I'm focusing on that session. I forget other people read these. I knew what I meant

Wrapping up and catching up...

Season ended with a fizzle. Had some abdominal ouchies that plagued my last 3 games and really pooped on my hammers. Lots of pain and some bruising on my left side which migrated to my upper weiner and base area... rest helped and modified lower body work will continue until further notice. Yeah I know I said I would go to the doctor but I didn't. Hex Bar is my buddy for the time being as it doesn't cause pain anywhere.
