he pulls that 455 like it's speed work.

Crossfit is just the name of the game. It's all about the programming. You think Rich Froning or the other top guys have shitty programming like your average CF gym?

I've some some excellent programming working around strongman, powerlfting and olympic lifting then finishing off with one or two metcons to get the heart rate going. The great coaches will filter in cycles for hyprtrophy, strength, power, endurance.. peak cycles.. etc.

Who the F is Rich Froning?

All I am saying is you don't get built like that from doing 135lbs for 20 reps.  He has a strength program with his crossfit program.  Strength training is not crossfit. Crossfit is not Strength training.  If you are going to combine it, then it's not crossfit anymore.

That's EXACTLY what crossfit is. A combination of everything.

have you not been reading Marks workouts? lol

Would you know who Matt Vincent and Dan McKim were if you didn't participate and follow our sport?

While I wouldn't expect you to know who Rich Froning is, he is the "Fittest Man on Earth".

I don't participate in CF but I follow it as I have a lot of friends involved. I disagree with a lot of their programming but some gyms have GREAT programming that just can't be dismissed.

There are crossfit gyms dedicated to Westside training methods that combine metcons. There are strongman crossfit gyms, football focused crossfit gyms, etc.

Also, kipping pullups are gay as shit.

Jake, I do not want try begin to speak for Jeremy, but maybe his point is related to what you posted above.

To me, there is no such thing as "strongman crossfit".  We (strongmen) have been doing crazy conditioning (metcons) LONG before Crossfit was "invented".

Football players have been pushing/pulling sleds LONG before Crossfit was "invented".

Sure, you can slap a Crossfit label on anything, but it doesn't not mean it is "Crossfit".  I can't tell you what IS Crossfit, but I sure as hell do not consider someone doing 100# Farmers walk as "Strongman".  So what is it then?

For the record Rob, I don't disagree with you. I was just trying to be more informative than anything.

There aren't crossfitters squatting a grand. There aren't crossfitters doing 400# farmers walks. There aren't crosfitters doing 200kg c&js.

Crossfitters aren't specialists. They're "jacks of all trades", which is why I can only assume they've created their own competition and it's now CF is a sport of its own.

Some of the metcons are very fun (Grace). Some are downright stupid (Murph). At the end of the day it gets people in shape.

From a scientific point of view, you'll never have a crossfitter be a specialist. The metcons tax their recovery systems too much to produce high caliber sport specific athletes.

That's a pretty hardcore time for Fran, admittedly a 95lb barbell thruster is not much when you're log pressing 290.

I'm at 270 (started the season at 285). Strength levels still seem pretty high but I can do more things now for instance...
Came out of work last week at 6am it was pouring rain and my car was parked about 150 yds away. Normally I would shuffle to my car cursing because let's face it I'm not gonna run. Well I can out and half sprinted down there and when I arrived I didn't feel like I was going to die and nothing hurt.

I'm also getting pretty " gymnasty". Im practicing walking on my hands and have handstand push ups. Working on muscle ups and I'm pretty close. I may compete in January.
