For you, Terri, the 21.  Wink

l see no point in using one weight for half of the class and another for the other half!  Besides, the Master Women in the Northwest expressed a unanimous desire to use the 21 pounder.

Great! So many Master's Women's (over age 40) competitions throwing the 21#, equivalent to the men over 40 throwing the 42#! (With one glaring exception.)

Super!

I'm so excited for this year! At this rate Wally, seeing how the Women's  classes are gung ho for sign ups, we might have to drop the Men to 6 competitors and have 12 for Women. Wink

Hey-

Masters Women 40-44 age will throw the 28# WFD and WOB and the Masters Women 45+ age will throw the 21# WFD and WOB at the MWC 2014 Inverness.

We are throwing the 28# because we have established Scottish Masters Records at all previous MWC events. The 21# is being introduced for the over 45 age grouip for the first time this year.

Please leave us out of you complaints, Teresa. If you don't like it, you don't have to go.

K, ALL Master Women will be using the 21# at the Claw because the Master Women from the Pacific Northwest unanimously requested us to make the change.  Besides, our younger Master Women's group is 40-49 and it would make no sense to try to use a 21 for half of the group and a 28 for the other half.  As far as records are concerned, i invite you to look at our "Top Throws" site posted above by Craig.  You'll see that l have no problem keeping track of different implements.

Teresa did not name any names or competitions in her comment, nor did she make any complaints, she was simply giving Wally kudos for his position on the Master Women's HWFD.

Wally-

You can run your games as you wish, I have nothing but respect for you .. and you can pretend that Teresa and all the other women of the Pacific Northwest are not still bitching about me, but the decision to use the 28# is to preserve our legacy of records. They are as valuable to us as your records are to you.

Terri James currently holds the Scottish Masters Record with a 42' 5" with the 28# and that is the challenge for the women who decide to compete at the MWC 2014. There are a few women who are looking forward to that challenge and one may even break the record in Scotland this fall.

First off Kevin, since the first time I met you have considered you a class act who works tireless behind the scene to make a great product(MWC), which sometimes I' m sure hinders your own athletic gains/goals..personally if someone isn't happy with your MWCs they can a) not go and let there non participation be there statement ,or b) look to get involved behind the scenes in planning, helping, etc.   Change is inevitable in sports as is new innovations- it's how we evolve. As long as the general idea of the spirit of the games stays we are fine. Don't worry about all those pouring hatorade

Craig - agreed.  Even if he didn't want the money, it is about the competition!  Hell, Duncan, you already won the pre-elites before!

Duncan - I am hanging in there.  We'll see if my training and throwing has amounted to anything worthwhile this weekend in ALB.  At the very least, Beech and I will have a snug-fest.

I saw Phil's 35-footer, it actually topped out the standards so he couldn't try for more. It was only a 16# bag, and the height was close to max, but must be impressive to have THE Duncan McCallum fretting.
