A bit of promotion : This weekend will mark the 40th annual U.S. Invitational Heavy Events Championships at the Caledonian Club of San Francisco's 149th Gathering and Games and we're looking forward to a great competition in all the classes. The pro's will see a rematch of the top 4 finishers from last weekend's World Championships in Scotland, Matt Vincent, Dan McKim, Scott Rider and Sebastian Wenta. Added to that mix will be 8 other top pro's, Scottish Champ Craig Sinclair, Wt/ht world record holder Mike Zolkiewicz, Andy Vincent, the guy who beat Mike Z. in the wt/ht at last year's Worlds, Jake Sullivan, a top finisher in the 2013 Worlds, Jeremy Hogg, a strongman/thrower from New Zealand, Jeff Kaste 2013 U.S. Am Champ, Nick Kahanic, world record holder in the open stone and competing for his final time at Pleasanton the always strong and very popular Sean Betz.
The other classes should be just as exciting with the nations top Am's battling it out over two days to see who will be crowned as the 2014 U.S. Invitational Champion. AND the weather forecast is calling for partly cloudy/sunny days in the 80's...it's all good. |

Awesome! What a lineup, and what a games Pleasanton is! Thankful and excited to be invited again this year.
We're seeing a legend make his final appearances at games in Sean Betz. Sean is a dear friend and was critical to helping me get my start. He will be greatly missed. Honored to share the field (and some fro yo) with him at Pleasanton one more time.
