New to the Houston area, not to the Highland games.  My name is John Halloran.  I'm originally from Maine, moved down here for work.  My username is something I've used on forums for a while.  It's my fraternity pledge name and I just like using it.  I'm a solid Am B. competitor.  Best competition throws:

Braemar:  27'7.5"
Open Stone:  38'1"
HWFD:  29'5.5"
LWFD:  49'3.5"
HH:  62'5"
LH:  78'2"
WOB:  11'6"
No sheaf height

The past season I was lucky enough to link up with Rob to get out and practice.  It has been awesome lifting and training with him.  Hopefully he'll be able to tear up North/South.  I know he has some big throws in him.

I am looking forward to competing down here.  It was nice to go from single digit temperatures to the mid 40's.  I'm looking to continue lifting and training.  If anyone is down in this area, I would love to meet up and get some throws in.  Also, if anyone has a suggestion for a gym I can join, I'm all ears.

You'll never get a decent lopstah roll again.

Did they ever rebuild Helens's down there?

I'm more rattled there isn't any skiing down here.

To be honest, I have no idea what Helens' is.

Hey John,

I think Ed Cosner is in the Houston area.  You might try your post in the General or Training area in that you are looking for training groups.

Eatery on Rt 1 north of Ellsworth, I believe in Machias. Good lobster roll and blueberry pie.
