Where are people getting their Tacky for Highland Games? I tried to find Larry Brock's website but perhaps he is no longer making/selling it? I tried some Strongman style tacky but it is not the same application for throwing as it is for stone loading, didn't work the same in my opinion.

Any help or direction would be appreciated. Thanks

Brent Abbot makes some good stuff and he is on Nasga. Also Dirk Bishop in New Brunswick makes good tacky as well. I bought mine from Brent when I went to the PHX games. Not sure if he mails it.

Its real easy to make. Crush some rock rosin, melt, add turpentine and stir. Let sit and there it is. If it is too thin or thick melt again and add more rosin or turpentine.

I appreciate the responses but how do you get a hold of these people?  No one actively has a website for the commercial sales of Highland Games tacky?  I have been to Jackal's Gym etc but that is all for Strongman style stone loading tacky.  In summary what I am getting is that "you have to know a guy."  Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Forgive my ignorance: what is rock resin and where would you get it? Turpentine is pretty easy to find.

My previous Google search went wrong by entering "rock resin" vs "rock rosin".

I figured it might have when you typed that.

Careful with the melting part of it all, there have been some well known fires whilst making tacky.

Ya, don't add the turpentine while the rosin is real hot.

You should be able to buy rosin anywhere dance supplies are sold or where tack for horses are sold. It is used in the rodeo circuit.
