6/27/16
Red Deer recap

20lb OS: 39'10" braemar. I place blame on Sean Langford for this. Perfectly good 16lb stone was available...
HWFD: 41'2", PR. Back over 40' in a game. I believe 4/6 throws were over 40'.
LWFD: 82'6", PR and set a field record. Finally broke the 80' barrier! 4-5/6 throws were over 80'.
HH: 102+. Hand fouled 106'+ which is the farthest I've ever thrown, practice or games.
LH: 132'6", PR by 7'.
WOB: 14'. Had plenty of height at 16' but left everything out front.
Caber: 1:30 I think?
Rob Young edged me out for the win by a point.

Great people and awesome implements. Made the 14hr trip each way worth it. The pr's almost made up for the 20lb open stone. Almost.

Reworked my technical model for the weights after Chicago last week and it definitely paid off. Hopefully they can keep rolling this coming weekend in Winnipeg.

Thanks Jeff, I'd love to come back next year.

Selkirk Recap
19lb OS: 2nd, 45+. Apparently Canadians hate 16lb stones.
HWFD: 4th?, 37+. Entry was way off today, even more than usual.
LWFD: 3rd?, 78+. Same issue with the entry.
LH: 1st, 123+. Short handle and huge weight. Felt great just not a flyer. JJ only went 121ish so I was cool with 123.
Caber: 3rd? There wasn't a caber big enough for us so we threw for distance.
WOB: 2nd, 16'
Sheaf: 24'. I swear I'm getting worse every game.
Overall: 3rd behind JJ and Luke.

Sheaf is killing me. Need to figure this out. Throwing exhibition at a local game this weekend. Nice break from traveling the past three weekends.

 7/11/16
Power snatch singles at 215

Squat up to 450x1

Bent-over row 5x5

7/12/16
HWFD and LWFD. cast/first turn still funky.

Portland Games
96# stone: 14+, bottom of the pack
OS: 49+
HWFD: 39+
LWFD: 80+
HH+ 102'11", PR by a couple inches.
LH: 125+
WOB: 15'
Caber: 70deg?
Overall: 6th behind Spencer, Andy, Chuck, Dan Tennison, and Nathan Burchett.

Enumclaw Games
BS: 4th, 37+
OS: 6th, 48+
HWFD: 7th, 39+
LWFD: 4th, 79+
HH: 3rd, 99+
LH: 2nd, 119+. Really happy with how hammers went without blades. Last year I think I went 104 with the light off the platforms.
Sheaf: 5th, 30'. 2' PR
WOB: 15'
Caber: no turn
Overall: 5th behind Spencer, Chuck, Dan, and Andy

Pretty happy with how these past two games have gone. Had issues with back spasms at Enumclaw so was very excited with the marks I was still able to hit.
Five weeks till my next games at Pleasanton.

Long time gone...My daughter was Born in august, and combining that with increased responsibilities at work has kept me off offline. will try to keep the log updated again but no guarantees once winter quarter begins...

The season finished out very well considering everything going on. After my last log update, took 5th in Pleasanton, 4th in Estes, and won Boise while the big boys were away at Celtic. Ended my third season with marks of:
BS: 40'11
OS: 52'3.5
HWFD: 41'2
LWFD: 82'6
HH: 106'11.5
LH: 132'6
Sheaf: 30'
WOB: 16'

Also finished 10th on the nasga board, which far exceeded my goal of top 15 coming into the year. Took till almost November to really get back into training so I'm still working on a base with light olympics, high squat/pull volumes, and upper bodybuilding stuff. Due to work lasting the duration of daylight I haven't been able to throw near as much as in past offseasons. Hopefully can start to get out more through the winter as the season gets closer.

I love your training Damien.  Just the nitty grittty. Gotta keep these thoughts in mind when doing my own training more often.

Thanks Justin. To be honest, its not my first choice of training style, but its the best for y current situation. I work pretty crazy hours and often have to train at 10 or 11pm in my garage, so my choices and energy are limited. One Olympic variation, one squat/pull, one posterior chain, and one single leg exercise covers my bases with minimal extra work. Upper body pretty much just sticking to reps in various intensity zones.
