After competing at Capitol Classic Highland games I headed back home (Cobleskill ny) to visit my folks for labor day. Got back into Princeton, NJ this morning and did some light tosses and a lift, CNS is whacky still.

Circuit: jog
(40m acceleration+20lb med ball tosses for height x4+53lb kettle bell tosses for height x2 left and right arm.)x4
Close Grip Power Snatches: 5x2 235lbs (full grip)
Front squats done quickly: 3x2 345lbs + ab rollers in-between
Got yelled at for loud music, left the throwing Pit for the showers.

Brought a stone from upstate ny home with me 14.85lbs will be tossing it tomorrow...

Ya'll will hate me for this but I snatch 5x a week in different variations. My training is set up for next year late spring early summer for discus at the Olympic trials. Dane Miller from garage strength (PA) and earthfedmuscle, write my workouts for every upcoming two weeks. If anyone knows me, cough cough Lucais MacKay, I hate not doing my own workouts. So I've took the headstrong nozzle down a notch and let a more than qualified person take the pressure off of me and let Dane Miller take over.

Hwfd (48lb) played with ball speed and first turn leg drop. What I learned today, higher orbit= less ring used, less strain on ped ;)
Distances. Idk
Lwfd (25lb hs weight) bitched it around 75+ 6 chunks

My training session was interrupted, a skeleton/Bob sledder from lake placid joined me for a lift, she grew up in Princeton area.

Rdl snatches from floor (power) 5x2 265lbs
Power clean, from floor: 3x3 305lbs 4x1 375lbs
Push press x2 + split jerk 5x1(ppj) 275lbs
Could have gone heavier but my Athletes started to come in, haven't seen them since Cuba trip 2months or so.
Speed front squats 3x3 305lbs + back hyper w/bar

I always wondered whether high-volume snatches would help or hurt. Doesn't really give your CNS a lot of recovery time, how long are you doing 5x a week?

Well for me I do such large variations of snatches, and even sometimes I'll do snatch work with no straps or hookgrip which obv. Makes you do less weight. But after a max effort the next day I'll do a lesser range of motion snatch for fast 3's or 4's. The objective with this week is to kill my CNS so severely I need three days rest then do a max effort then rest for 36hrs then compete at LOON. :) its kinda a Dr. B method.

Well I trained at 10pm last night after I coached a weightlifting class. I had a few of my Athletes start training already. Had a weird day, found out my vertigo was all FFFFFed with today and my world was spinning around for an hour, some scary stuff.

Circuit: build up to a max double in b.squat and close grip bench. 485x2/385x2 I could have gone heavier in squats, I just wasn't going to belt up and ego lift, heavy but not a grinder. Then I dropped to 442/360 and did 10x2 speed work with pullups till failure for about 6 of those sets.

Ended with dips and leg raises... Nothing special.

Friday I didn't train, Saturday I headed out to garage strength in PA, which is about two hrs from Princeton. Threw heavy discuses in the rain and accepted a clean off with the #4 94kg weightlifter, DJ Shuttleworth. I power cleaned till about 170kg, 175,180,185 were full cleans. Made a big jump to 192kg to break gym record; pulled off the floor, got on toes too early, didn't stay tight, caught in hole, double bounced and bailed lol. I then proceeded onto to do back hypers and 50lb kbell tosses for height.

Did some goofy training. I threw a 6/8/10/16/20lb balls for height 8x... Why I don't know, but great workout. Then went onto stand throws with a rock I found that weighs 15lbs. I got up to 50'6 stands and 56' with a full spin. My pcl in right knee started to tighten went onto hwfd, did 4 throws I was happy and hurting more. Wob I took 12 throws feeling out different angles too pull from and finishing my throw.
I did light cleans, my knee started to act up even more so I called it.
We will see how I feel today may just stop everything and eat alot.

My first LOON games were a success, thanks for everyone helping me out and all duh support!!! Thanks to matt Vincent for getting me to throw wob against the pros and hafpthor! Got 17' on first attempt and was knocking the bar around at 17'6".

Had a great time drinking with everyone at D'amentes palace. Left a Princeton jacket there for anyone to have.

As for the AMS... I sneaked a victory away from Bill, he is relentless and a true competitor. I know he is moving to masters
Next year and I probably won't compete against him again but II sure hope too. As a novice my consistency and able to caber is not the best. Bill is the best caberer** haha

But thanks again to everyone and the helpful pros and the nice words from the Icelandic strength athletes. Also special thanks to Wayne hill and officials at LOON for getting me into the games.

Jvg coached, fueled by hviii of USATF

Well I f'd my left arm, subluxed my radial head and strained a ligament in the process, its been two weeks and I still can't do a FFFFFing bicep curls. Doctor told me my forearms are way stringer than biceps, so boys don't neglect the biceps!!! I've learned my lesson. I'm still snatching and crying with every catch and high pull. Caber sheaf and hammers are out of the question.

It's been a while since I posted on this NASGA Discussion Board, but here it goes...
Since the LOON games I have been in full swing of training for Discus and weight throw. I recently qualified for the 2016 Olympic trials in the Discus with an effort of 60.45m. I know have my first weight throw meet dec 11th, looking to about 23m. Furthermore I have my first indoor Discus meet Dec 19th in Michigan throwing against some big names.
I will update on the reg now because I am mentally preparing for the NorthSouth games in Orlando Jan 16th. I feel that Instagram is the best form of blogging/vlogging, training diary, but I'll keep posting on here a few times a week.
I am pretty excited about team north I feel we all are in it to win it and have great things to offer. Also excited for jvg and Cronk to destroy their first weightlifting meet in early Jan.

New training prs:
148kg deficit snatch
255kg raw oly back squat
315lb hang snatch
185kg full clean
350lb bench for 7 reps
Lol ok I'm done
