Hey-
Just sorting thru the numbers from MWC and found an odd coincidence. Didn't expect it. We had: 54 men from 40-49 years in age 60 men over 50 years and 31 women in competition equals 145 total athletes. but ... 11 <200lbs in M40-49 11 <200lbs in 50+ and 6 <155lbs women. that mean ... 20% were <200lbs in the under 50 18% were <200 in the over 50 and 19% were <155 for the women. So, my estimate is that overall we have about 20% of the Masters throwers in the LW condition. Just say'n -K |

And then there was the Caber Toss -
Interesting, that 100 out of 145 (70%) turned the caber and 57 (40%) people earned a perfect 12:score. Overall, 75% of the men turned the stick, but only 50% of the women. The difference could be because men cut and clean and trim the cabers so we might know how to size a caber for a group of men better than for women or that the men simply have more experience. I donno why. We had some pretty good looking cabers and they were big but they all got turned. -K |

grab your pitchfork-
Braidy Miller cleared 38' with the sheaf toss and there was nobody even close to that. Mike Dickens and Rhett Bobzein both cleared 32'. Best under 200lb was Jeremy Irvin with 28'. But it was our friend from Germany - Michaela Pennekamp - who added 5' to the women's record when she cleared 28' -K

And Finally ....
The best WOB was a tie at 19' between Mark Wechter and both Braidy & Brent Miller. AND another women's record and a tie at 17' between Beth Burton and Michaela Pennekamp. Plus, Kirk Taylor set a new WOB record for 50+<200 at 15' 6" Best overall though is -> Mark Wechter set a new record standing 17' and spinning 19'. Wow, that's the most significant record setting day for the Weight Over Bar in history and it seems appropriate that the awards were crafted to resemble a WOB weight too. What a day, enuf for the now, -K |

Michaela's 28' sheaf toss was sublime, so relaxed and fast. Even more impressive because it's not something they contest in Europa. Michaela also turned our Caber 12:00 all three times, the first time she's ever done that in competition! So awesome!! jp |

You have to stop doing that Juli, if it worked we'd all be doing it.

Juli-
I remember the first moment when I met Bambi and she has been a absolute pleasure ever since. She was looking at a map of the city with Petra at the breakfast table of the host hotel for MWC 2012. I introduced myself and asked if I could help them read the map. We ended up spending the day hiking all around the city. It was a great first day together and I look forward to each time I see her. Awesome is an understatement when talking about Michaela ... such an inviting smile and great manner. She's a pretty good thrower too. I'm a big fan, -K
