Started:          2009 (A-Class)
Class:              Master
Body Weight:  180-lbs

PERSONAL RECORDS

Braemar (Gaylord Stone 25-lbs): 23'11
Open Stone: 32'2"
HWFD: 30'4.5"
LWFD: 45'1"
Caber: 35/111, 37 games, 0.315 batting average
HH: 67'5"
LH: 80'
WOB: 12'
Sheaf: 23'

NEW TRAINING SCHEDULE
SATURDAY:      Braemar (22.5-lbs) and Open (17-lbs) MSA
SUNDAY:         WFD
MONDAY:        Olympic Lifting
TUESDAY:       Hammers
WEDNESDAY: Power Lifting
THURSDAY:     Height Events
FRIDAY:          Caber (18'6") or Gaylord St. Mary Varsity Football as I am the O-Line Coach

My last game of the season is Saline on July 9th.  Currently nursing a pulled muscle in the left groin; it is getting better with Motrin, Ice, and a neoprene wrap.  I need to get stronger and better technically.  I plan to put up video of the throws once my recorder arrives.

25JUN16, SAT
Braemar Stone: went through shot putt progression then took three full throws with a best of 23'
Open Stone: I am sticking to my guns with the MSA.  Did some footwork drills then finished with ten throws with a best of 31'.

26JUN16.  SUN.

HWFD: Cast work.  Single turns.  Eight full throws.  Focused on the cast, driving to six, sink, sprint, and lift at the end.  Did not put a lot of mustard on it due to left leg.
LWFD:  Pretty warm at this point so focused on coaching points and took eight full throws.

Ice, compression, motrin, Guinness.

28JUN16.  TUE.

Hammer: I throw with one spike on the right foot.  Started with cast and throw x8.  Two turn and release x6.  Three turns and release x6.

Increased 10' from the cast and throw to the two turns.  Add 10' to that with the three turn.  It seems that I am pissing in the wind and calling it cologne with my extra turns.  Still waiting on video capture capability.

No wrap or ice only motrin post throws.

Dead Lift                 5:1    +

Keep the thigh sleeve on throughout.  Ice and Motrin afterwards.  Feeling close to 100%.

30JUN16.  THU.

WOB:  Set the bar at 12'.  Went 7 for 10 then raised it up to 13'.  Went 0 for 5.  Hit the bottom of the bar on attempt number three.
Sheaf:  DNP.  I seem to have miss placed my sheaf...

Seems like too much is going on.  Trying to throw; one game left in my season (Saline, MI 09JUL), run the weight room at the HS two days a week, conditioning two days a week with HS kids, full time job, wife and five kids...the list goes on.  I do not complain it is just a realization that a person can only do so much.

01JUL16.  FRI.

Caber: DNP.

Took a PTO day from work to get the camper ready for the holiday.  Hope everyone out there has a happy and safe 4th of July.  Hope you can still count to ten when it is all said and done!

02JUL16-05JUL16.  Deload over the holiday.

06JUL16.  WED.

Pregame
Stones: Felt good with solid throws.  Took four with each.
WFD: Felt good with solid throws.  Took four with each.
Caber: 0:3 with Ethyl and 0:1 with Holly.
Hammers: Really fighting the hammer and not smooth at all.
Sheaf: 3:3 at 20'.
WOB: lack luster here.  0:3 at 12'.

So so practice before a game is not always a bad thing.  Saline, MI this Saturday and the end of my season.  Man it was short but no it goes into the off season.  With a focus on throwing as much as possible for as long as possible.

07JUL16.  THU.

WOB: 2:3 at 12'
Sheaf: 3:3 at 20'

Did not like how WOB went yesterday so I went and took three throws each.  Helped settle my mind a bit.

09JUL16.  SAT.

Saline, MI: Warm, cloudy, with slight breeze

Par to sub-par performance to finish the year.  The season was a culmination of the past off season and it went pretty much like I thought it would.  It is what it is.  A strong plan is in place and the drive for 2017 begins today.

10JUL16.  SUN.
HWFD: Cast and single turn with release x5.  Full throws x10.
LWFD: Line Drill x5.  Full throws x10.

Not happy with the distances.  Still lacking in the video capture department.

12JUL16.  TUE.

Hammer: DNP.  One of the other HS Coaches, who was supposed to open the weight room at the school, could not make it so it fell to me.  Afterwards I had athletes at the field for conditioning and core work.  Late in the day so I went home and had dinner with my wife.

Dead Lift    DNP
CG Bench   3:5 +
Press         3:5 +

GHR            DNP

While at work left knee got tighter and tighter.  Soon a substantial effusion on the lateral side appeared with tightness in the popliteal space.  Went home took motrin, ice packs, elevation, and later a Rehband sleeve when up and about.  By about 4pm it was down to half the size of a baseball.  Weird.

14JUL16.  THU.

Height Events were a no go.  Ice, compression, motrin.  Turned down the needle aspiration.  Getting much looser, not so stiff.  Can sit without having to keep the leg straight.

15JUL16.  FRI.

Caber: "Weasy"  6:6

"You can get easy with Weasy but don't you get funny with the money." ~ George Jefferson

Weasy is just under 17 and a bit on the lighter side but felt it was a good choice to easy back into some action.  It had been raining so the added water weight was nice.

18JUL16.  MON.

Took some PTO and took my wife, Laura, to Mackinac Island for our twentieth wedding anniversary; it is actually on the 20th but could not get that day off.  The weather was great and the company even better.

23JUL16.  SAT.

Up early and off to work for emergent lap appy, home to tend to wife who is ill, drop off various kids, then to the field for stone work; then realized I had not eaten anything...here we go.

Braemar Stone: went through shot putt progression then took three full throws.
Open Stone: MSA.  Did some footwork drills then finished with ten throws.

Pivoting on the left is very sore.  Ice, Motrin, and compression.

WFD: DNP.  Working in the OR 0500-1435.  Then life kicked in and then it rained.

This has been a busy call weekend.  General surgery extravaganza!  Time to adjust the W2 for this pay period.

28JUL16.  THU.

Dr. Habryl appointment: physical exam with x-rays.  Arthritis - moderate, osteophyte on patella, and what looks to be a osteochondroma on the somewhat distal end of the femur.  Scheduling an MRI to get a closer look.  Cortisone shot will probably follow the MRI.

04AUG-06AUG16.

Final leg of the trip was a nine and a half hour ride, none stop, from Minnesota back home to Michigan.  I cannot imagine driving like this and then throwing the next day.  Hats off to those of you that can.

Looking forward to getting back into the routine.
